PERFECTION! My 12 yr old baby who was severely abused. I brought her home when she was a year old. I got her 1 hr before she was going to be put down. Cigarette burns. 20 pounds underweight & the mange. Lots of love & look at her now. I encourage everybody to rescue their pets. Most of the time u realize they rescue you right bk. heatheryearber @phoebescloset11 great message!! I to encourage adopting shelter dogs and older dogs! One of ours had been kept in a small plastic travel crate the first year of her life! When we got her she didn't know what carpet felt like...grass felt like or even how to play!!! Ugh! I tear up every time at that! If you could have seen the look on her little face when our other dog tried to get her to play...anyways, she happy and rambunctious and loves to play and roll in the grass!! Your pup is so cute!! I love her nose of all things! Lol

Animals are a huge part of my life & always hv been. I started bringing home "strays" as soon as I was old enough to go outside & play (remember the days when kids actually played outside..ha). My mom would get so frustrated bc I always had some kind of animal with me when I came bk inside before the street lights came on. The only time I didn't hv a dog was when I started flying (I'm a flight attendant) & moved to Denver @ the age of 18 & then to Hawaii. During those years I was still picking them up off the street & finding homes for them. How I did it I really hv no idea. I guess when your passionate enough about smthn u just figure it out. When I moved bk to Houston, my home town, I knew I could take care of one bc my family lives here & my parents hv 2 rescues themselves so when I'm out of town he or she would hv a wonderful place to go & I wouldn't hv to worry. As you know owning a dog is just like hvn a child. It's a huge responsibility & they need A LOT of attention. I can't even count how many dogs I hv just picked up off the street. Whenever my friends or family hear me say, "stop the car", they know I've spotted smthn. lol..I found Phoebe at the pound. It was the last place I had gone that day with my mom looking for a dog. We cried all day long going from shelter to shelter & she was the first doggie I saw when I wlkd in. She was so sick & near death it just ripped my heart out. I had held many dogs in my arms before while doing volunteer wrk right before they passed who had never even felt love bc I wanted them to know there ARE ppl who love them & how sorry I am they never got what they so deserved. I honestly thought this would be the same thing with Phoebe. Terribly abused & scared to death I brought her home. I got her medication that day & just loved her. I could tell she was smthn special & together we fought for her to stay alive. In less than one month she turned into a completely different animal. She became herself! This particular fur child has literally changed my life. We actually rescued each other. I now hv helped open several no-kill shelters & am constantly helping these babies find loving homes. It's not easy seeing what I see but everytime one is saved it reminds me of why I do what I do. Phoebe is definitely a fighter she was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor & was gvn 6 mths to a yr to live. I took her to the best vets including Texas A&M university & they all said the same thing. That was 5 years ago & she is still going strong! She also hurt her leg chasing a squirrel & again, 4 different vets told me she needed surgery ASAP or she would lose that leg. I started doing my own research & found some vets who believe in holistic healing. I gave it a shot. They said keep her immobile for 4 to 6 weeks & it will heal itself. Yep, one month later she was just fine. That was 2 years ago & she can out run me. I dont know what I'm going to do when it's time for her to go to Heaven bc she has been with me through many heartbreaking & difficult times. Sorry, I'm going on & on. I told u I was passionate about this. 😘So YES! I encourage everyone to adopt & rescue their pets. There are millions who need homes & the love they give is truly unconditional. They don't hv a voice so they need ours! I just wish I was the person Phoebe thinks I am. lol...Well, she is just staring at me right now that means...GET OFF THE COMPUTER & TK ME FOR A WALK! Love my animal lover friends. Thx for reading this entirely too long story. ❤❤❤❤❤❤🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶

My hubby cringes when I see a wandering animal because he knows the words that are coming next!! LOL Bless him he just pulls over! There is something wrong with my Sassy Sue today. One of best friends is a big advocate of that & is now the spokesperson for SNAP. I really don't know how I've never been shot bc I become enraged at ppl who bring in their animals & just drop them off bc they just don't want them anymore after hvn them for years or when I see someone abusing an animal. Forget it! I become the devil himself. I hv no doubt one of these days I will end up on the 10 o'clock news bc I hv physically attacked some piece of sh** that does this. There is a reason why I tk karate & wrk out. And yes. I too love animals much more than ppl, but that also might be due to the fact I hv been a flight attendant for 21 years & I've had to deal with them over half of my life!!!!! lol...

dawnnesbitt @phoebescloset11 I too am an animal lover and my favorite breed is Poodle. They are so smart, don't shed, don't have dander and can be trained very quickly. I think I rescue them too. Trai, my black standard, was a show dog who lived with 9 other dogs. Rocky, the biggest one, picked on him. I made arrangements to get him, and he has been mine for 1 1/2 years. CoCo, my latest addition came the day after Thanksgiving. The people who bought her had never owned a dog and were making her live outside! The northwest can be a cold, rainy place and one night when it hailed, I lay awake thinking of her outside in a crate. I begged the people to give her to me. Now she is mine and has adapted to sleeping on the bed, eating healthy dog food and playing with her " big brother" all of the time. The only challenge is potty training, as she lived outside. She rings a bell to go out, but still has some accidents. I love them both so much. I have to go away this weekend and wish you lived close by, so you could "puppy sit". barbyq Gorgeous little thing! They bring such joy & I believe they appreciate u more because they know u saved them. I am the same way w/animals. I have 2 dogs & 2 cats that were in need. I even have a crippled quail that can't stand up! I'm raising my girls to be the same. My hubby is supportive, but he cringed every time I bring home something new! Lol.

meybaby I love your baby!!!! Soooo cute! I have two pups that we rescued & also have sad stories 😢 but now they are my lil spoiled furballs that I love beyond words! My husband cut me off after the new pup (Bella the little white one on my profile pic) so since I can't save more pups I like to help the rescue groups & pounds by donating time, money & by sharing as many of the pups who need to be saved/healed. So good for you for taking in a pup that wasn't in the best condition & who was close to its end. People like you are who make my efforts worth it! 😘💕🌷🐶

mandasl Omg What a doll!! Our dog growing up was a rescue from Animal Control. We lived in a small town, no shelters, just the dog catcher. It cost us $5 to take him home. He was our angel! Through countless moves and all of life's ups and downs, he was there for it all! You can't put a price on something so special! My bf and I currently own 3 rescue dogs. I say currently bc his dad is a veterinarian - new additions are always a possibility!! I really enjoyed reading everyone's touching stories. Farrah is a Pomeranian and Scarlett is an Australian Shepard. They are literally our (4-legged) children. So glad to see people like you doing good work for these sweet animals. sjaramillo3 What a doll!!! I saved this in my likes a long time ago, cuz it's soo darn cute. I too have a rescue dog. I found her in the middle of nowhere. Starving, dirty, multiple lacerations, and severely depressed. She was 3 months. Now she's about a year, and my best friend. I luv her to pieces, and couldn't even get too mad when she chewed some of my shoes (4 pairs now) she's like her momma, she loves shoes!! They are now on high shelves. Lol. She still has a bit of a limp sometimes (she may have been thrown from a car), but she is the sweetest thing in the world. The best doggies are rescue doggies!

It really means a lot to me. You hv no idea how much I needed to reread this now. Phoebe was attacked by a dog (no leash or owner) while I was walking her 4 days ago. Of course I jumped in the middle of it & needless to say we both ended up with stitches. Truly terrifying. I was alone in the middle of the day with no help in sight. Well, that's not true 3 grown men stopped & not one stepped in to help. NOT ONE!!!!!! A security guard heard me screaming 3 blocks away & was able to get Phoebe by grabbing her leash while I was holding on to this dog by his collar. How I got the strength to hold on to a 50+ pound dog I still don't know. God had to hv played a part in this. We are ok. Phoebe's leg is pretty messed up & my left hand has some stitches but the good news is we got some great meds (ha) & we are ALIVE! It's amazing how your instincts just tk over & you will do anything to save the ones you love. I'm telling u this bc I will never wlk her again w/out carrying something...like mace! We hv heard a million times women should ALWAYS carry something for protection when we are alone. I'm finally listening. Not bc the reason we are told too (being robbed, raped etc..) but bc I will NOT let this happen again to her. Had this dog not had a collar on she would be dead & I would be severely injured or dead as well. I hate even saying that but I want you all to know how serious it is & it CAN happen to you. She means the world to me & has been there for me during the worst times in my life so don't let this happen to you & your fur babies. You really just never know. Much much love to you all!!!! meybaby OMGosh! 😱I'm so sorry to hear about this! So scary & sad. I hope you & Phoebe are ok & heal from this scary experience! 😕I try to carry my pepper spray when I'm alone and I got an animal spray (because people pepper sprays don't always work on animals- just FYI), but after reading this I plan to carry them everywhere all the time! 😳 We will keep both of you in our prayers & what a good Mommy you are for jumping in and protecting your furbaby. 🌷

We went to the dog park about 4 years ago & a dog that wasn't on a leash jumped on her there too. You can't even describe how horrifying it is. That time ppl jumped in immediately bc it was full of ppl. Again, we both ended up in ER. She had to get stitches (now she has scars on both legs) & I had to get just 4 stitches on my arm that time. We both hv battle wounds (geez). That time I got a techni shot so I didn't need one this time. They scrub your wounds with something that looks like a SOS pad & it hurts like a mother! I feel like Meryl Streep in 'Silkwood'. NOT FUN! I spend countless hrs with doggies in shelters & I KNOW how to handle aggressive animals but all bets are off when they turn into "Cujo" & are out for blood. Ppl say I'm a complete idiot for jumping in but what would u do? U just do it w/out even thinking. I can't stop thinking about it bc it was like living a nightmare. I remember thinking "this is it..she is gone" & then thinking "F*** THIS! SHE IS NOT GOING TO DIE THIS WAY...ESPECIALLY RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME"!!!! I know I'm rambling but it is actually worse than what I'm even saying. The hardest thing is she wouldn't even come to me until yesterday (finally). After I slid my hand under his collar & used my body weight to throw him on top of me she kept coming bk to fight so I was kicking her as hard as I could to keep her away. I can't imagine what she was thinking. I am supposed to protect her & I'm kicking her???!!!!!! I hv cried & cried til I can't even cry anymore. When she came up to me yesterday & put her head in my lap it was like I could finally breathe again. She's back! Bruised, hurting & with stitches but SHE IS BACK! What a relief. Kristina, I'm so sorry to hear that. My aunts dog was killed by her neighbors dog 3 years ago & still won't talk about it til this day. HORRIBLE! Dog fights are terrifying & extremely hard to break up. :(((((( @meybaby TY for that advice! That is great to know!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, time to clean up our wounds & love on my baby. Oh, and find some goodies on Posh. 😉LOVE TO YOU ALL!

I'm always so scared of something like this happening when I'm taking my little guy out because so many people walk their dogs off leash (in downtown SF!!!) it's so much safer to have them on a leash. victriaboutiq @phoebescloset11 wow I can't even imagine how frightened you must have been!!! My dogs are my babies and I couldn't even imagine what I would do in such a situation. I'm so glad you're both ok and it didn't end up worse than it did 🐶 I've had a bad experience while walking one of my dogs but not by another dog but by some creepy pervert who decided to follow me and then hide in some bushes so I wouldn't be able to notice him when I walked back. This dog jumped out from under a table where her master and mistress were having coffee, and bit Mercedes on the nose. She was bleeding and I was upset and trying to help her. The couple got up quickly and walked away. I am so glad you are okay! Did you find the owner?

My husband bought me mace/pepper spray a long time ago, it's really small- and fits right into my handbag. Whenever I'm alone - I have it in my hand. jcbabii23 This is one of the saddest and most amazing stories I've ever heard. That attacks must have been so horrible but thank god you're both alive! I cried reading this. I'm sitting here with my little man who's only 9 months. I adopted him when he was 4 months and he got pretty sick so i know what its like to worry. Where I live we have coyotes and I'm terrified to take him on walks at night or let him in the back yard by himself. But reading this has made me more confident that I'd know just what to do to help save my baby if anything happened. Thank you for sharing this story!!

WOW!!! 🙏🙏🙏For those of u who shared your stories about being in a similar situation you know how terrifying it is. My love goes out to you all! ❤I honestly can't even describe it. I keep replaying it over & over (I guess I'm into self torture). I swear I think this affected ME more mentally than her. Great! Like I need more mental issues. 😜 She walks with a limp now but seems to be fine. The attack was horrible enough but when I was able to get a good grip under his (the other dogs) collar & pull him on top of me (his back was on my chest) Phoebe kept cmn bk to fight to protect me & I kicked her TWICE as hard as I could to keep her away. I am there to protect her & I'm kicking her? I feel aweful! 😢I feel like that's why she wouldn't come to me for a few days. She didn't understand & felt like I was angry or betrayed her. The vet said she was in a lot of pain, confused & didn't want to be touched. I still hv that guilty feeling. I hv explained to her why I did what I did & how sorry I am (yes, I tlk to her & every animal at the shelters like they can actually understand exactly what I'm saying...I told y'all I had mental issues 😉) I think she has forgiven me bc now she won't leave my side even more so than before. She isn't afraid to go outside & still barks at every other dog that even looks her direction. Yep, my "bitch" is bk & I wouldn't hv it any other way!!!! For those who asked if I found the owner. This dog had a chip in him so when animal control came & picked him up it wasn't hard to find out where he belonged. @barbyq let's just say I made a house call. 😡I always blame the owners! This also has a lot to do with me being me a flight attendant. Everybody gets angry at kids acting up. GET MAD AT THE PARENTS! Don't even get me started on that. The dog got out of the fence, which happens & I understand, but when I saw this fence...NOT SO MUCH! You hv an aggressive dog you keep outside that digs. I don't blame him. He gets NO attention, is stuck outside 24/7 in Houston where it's hot as hell. I would be pissed too if I was that dog. NO EXCUSE to attack another dog & would shoot his a** (or any other dog) in a heartbeat if this happened again to Phoebe or ANY dog for that matter! I won't get into the "conversation" we had but I will say I made my point. They won't pay for the vet bills..shocking, I know..bc they don't feel like its their responsibility. REALLY?! Ok then. How about atleast fixing your fence?! NOPE! Now this is why it's reaalllllyyyyy good to know the right ppl. I hv been going over to this house when their not home trying to get to know this dogs temperment. He is young & wants to be loved. I called some friends I do volunteer wrk with & told them how to get in the fence, which was NOT hard, so they could go get him. Let's just say they no longer hv "Cujo". He is in a safe place where the most wonderful ppl work with dogs just like him. I do think he deserves a chance bc he has never had one. I know it would be impossible for me to feel this way if the outcome had been different, but I think about Phoebe & how distrusting she is around ppl & most other animals bc of how she was abused as a pup. I had to wrk with her for a long time & she still hates men (ha..I swear she doesn't get that from me). She just has to get to know them before she warms up then she has u wrapped around her paw. 🐶 Hold on everybody. I'm actually going to wrap this up. lol..UPDATE- they named the dog "Jack" & I've been told he is one of the best dogs they hv gotten in awhile. He is listening & is actually playing well with others. He will go to a foster home first to someone who will help him even more & then he will be adopted out. Maybe this happened for a reason. barbyq Love it! That's what I'm talking about! Sounds like something i would do. Kidnap the dog...brilliant! They will learn their lesson (hopefully) & either fix that fence ( or even better, NOT get another dog they can't treat properly). I LOVE the fact that the dog has a chance for a new life! It's so true, the parents are responsible for how they turn out. He was probably bored and angry trying to escape them! I'm so happy that Phoebe hasn't lost her gusto. They were in a warehouse in Brooks (near Salem), in crates, stacked all askew. Unfed and defecating on top of each other! Please pray for these poor dogs and that this woman gets what's coming to her.

Sad tears for all the dogs I wish we could rescue, but happy tears to know there are people like you and the people who left comments. My baby girl passed almost 2 years ago unexpectedly, and I am still heartbroken💔. Although it's been almost 2 years I still cry almost everyday. She was really just like my child and with me constantly. I'm glad to know there are others out there who can feel the same way about their fur babies. yerardi @phoebescloset11 that's is awesome. I rescued my Greyhound who was also severely abused. He was 30 lbs under weight, you could see all of his ribs. He also had chemical burns all over his body. Reggie's was a race dog in Hollywood Florida, and they used to burn them to get them out of the gate faster. When the owners were done racing them, they would leave them to die. He is an amazing dog. And I agree, they rescue you right back ☺

wenrella ❤🐶 I saved my doggie from a puppy mill. She was born w/ a hernia and has a lazy eye. She may have brain damage due to her being 4 now and still not fully potty trained. But she is the love ❤ of my life. ( I can't have children so I treat her like a real baby) and she is so spoiled now that if she doesn't have my 24-7 attention she cries like a child. Seriously.

They said she was about a year when I got her. I've always had dogs in my life. I had a Sheltie named Bo who lived for 18 years. He literally grew up with me. I'll see him again. My cat Pebbles was also a rescue my supervisors husband was going to throw her in a shelter after he kicked her several times. but i took her in she was the sweetest cat, but she got really sick after having her for 6 years and we had to put her down on valentines day. There was nothing we could do but end her suffering. She was buried at a nearby pet cemetery next to my fathers dog Moo. Im am looking to rescue another dog this month!! 😊

My newest baby I found during hurricane Sandy that I thought was a kitten from how malnutrition she was come to find out the vet said she is around 9 yrs old. She is amazing and has her forever home with me. There's one thing I love more then fashion and that is animals 😍 I love that I am finding animal lovers on here. I don't know if you live in NY but if you do let me know because there is a NY senate bill S 3753 that will protect poor puppies from puppy mills so I have a list of the numbers to call. channy81 We rescued both out dogs. The first one, Conan, was found in a bad area of Chicago abandoned and under 40 lbs ( he weighs almost 80 now!) the other, Bruce, was a gift for someone when he was a puppy and the put him in a shelter. We adopted him a month ago and he is a little over a year old so he has been in shelters his entire life. They are both pits and both the most loving and cuddly dogs ever. Everyone should adopt! It feels so good and it saves a life! Your baby is adorable!!!

mskittywalks Your story made me tear up. I know you've gotten this so many times before, but you are such a beautiful person inside and out-- just like ur adorable puppy. She looks like a Shiba Inu? I love my puppies, a husky named Bruce (super affectionate) and a shiba named Sakura, my little diva. I would try my best not to let anything happen to them, they are such great companions 🐶🐶 It's because of ur story that I've decided I'm not walking them without a mace. oliviasavell I work at a vet clinic and with tons of rescue groups and unfortunately I've heard too many stories and seen too many babies that have been hurt and abused. My 4 month old rescue that i adopted got brought in to our clinic the day after christmas from being abused and left out in the cold and the rain for several days only her and her sister survived. I took my little one and her sister got a great home as well. My 3 year old showed up at our doorstep with cuts and blood all over her. We believe she got hit by a car. She is doing great today but unfortunately has long term head trauma and hip dysphasia.

mlevene I am so sorry about Phoebe's cancer!! What type of cancer is it and how old is Phoebe? I am asking because my female Westie was diagnosed with Lymphoma when she was 4. Minnie Me's prognosis was very grave. I cried so much I honestly felt I had turned my stomach inside out. However, we asked if she had a chance to beat it. The doctors at a VCA actual oncologist' s told us 70/30. BUT, she had age on her side. Minnie was sick for 18months the meds made her miserable ( why they don't recommend fighting it with older dogs) Now for the good stuff!!! Minnie is turning 12 years old this fall!!!!! So I hope and pray Phoebe had a type of cancer they can fight/ cause clearly Phoebe is a fighter!!!!!

He was actually suppose to be put down two days before I got him but I kept calling and visiting up there and volunteering and I begging them not to and than I just had to bring him home. He honestly now has no idea how he was treated and now is spoiled rotten lol I highly encourage people to adopt a sweet pup ! They are amazing and sweet babies :) xo

phoebescloset11 @ntaul Hi Nikita. I'm so happy u want to save one of these precious souls. Phoebe is a chow mix. I rescued her when she was a year. She's going on 13 now. Not sure if u read all the comments but she went through a lot. They hv husky rescue groups so if that's what u know u want then start searching the web. There are so many ppl that just deal with certain breeds. Most shelters that only deal with certain breeds are often being fostered, which is AWESOME, so do your research & u will find one. Also, look at all the shelters & the pound. I saved a husky about 2 months ago. He was chained to a cold table at the pound & was just about to be put down. He was only 5 moths old & scared to death. I took him with me & he is as good as new living with a loving family. If you see a dog with the mange, has heartworms, seems timid, has sores on them. DON'T worry or let this sway your decision. These things are sooooooo easily treated. The timid part will tk time. Love & patience will cure this. The shelters are all full & most dogs (and especially cats) get euthanized EVERY SINGLE HR! I'm tlkn thousands & that is just in the Houston Harris County area...u can add thousands more when u include all the surrounding counties. Wherever u live I KNOW the same thing is happening. Every state, every city, every town...UNBELIEVABLY SAD & CAN BE PREVENTED BY GTTN YOUR PETS SPAYED & NEUTERED & ALSO MICRO CHIPPED!!!!!! When ppl are executed in this country. They get to pick their last meal of choice & I'm sure hv "found God" by now....too late in my opinion but that's a different story. These are PEOPLE, not harmless animals with no voice, who know right from wrong & hv committed some unspeakable crime they are ordered to be put to death but are treating better than harmless animals who only want to be loved & love u right back. Think about that! If u go to a pound it is the most horrific, infuriating sad thing u will ever see. They now only hv 24/48 hrs to get rescued or their put down. There are so many they are literally stacked on top of eachother bc there is nowhere to walk. They can't get outside & only ONE time a day..if their lucky..does some one come in & spray them all down bc of the urine & fecies allover the place! UGHHHHHHH! Makes me so angry I could kill somebody. I often times leave there so physically sick to my stomach of the abuse that goes on & the sadness that takes over. Also the anger!!!!! WOW! I'm so sorry Nikita. U are doing a great thing & I turned this into smthn else. I'm so sorry hun. As you can tell I'm extremely passionate about this..to say the least. I don't know where u live but u can tag me & I will help u anyway I can! I not only posted pics of Phoebe bc I love her so much but was trying to bring awareness to how important it is to adopt or atleast be aware of what's going on. It's hard, I know but this IS happening & it's gotten out of control!!!! Also, TAKE MACE OR PEPPER SPRAY WITH U WHILE WALKING YOUR BABIES. I learned this the hard way! When she was attacked a couple of months back by another dog there wasnt a persin in sight to help & the grown men that stopped wouldnt even get involved. Dog fights are the worst & so scary. DON'T let this happen to you. Keep you & your babies safe. Had i had I had this we probably both wouldn't hv ended up with stitches. I DO read them all & I apologize for not responding after every one. As you can see there are many loving hearts I have to respond to & I didn't even tag everybody. This started out by me answering a question for @ntaul & then I got on my soap box. It is graphic & disturbing but this is what I do on my free time (volunteering) & I would never say anything if I didn't feel ppl who truly love animals should know. I COMPLETELY understand some animal lovers just can't hv an animal for various reasons. I respect that. At least u are responsible enough to know u might not hv the time, money, etc...If u are unable to own/adopt...then foster...can't foster....donate money (ANY amount helps)...can't donate money...volunteer (that's FREE)...are unable to do any of these things.....PRAY! I found out my Phoebe has bone cancer & I am devastated to say the least. This girl has been through it all with me & losing her is just not an option. I hv decided I'm not going to do all the different options they give you. Her life wouldnt be the same. As long as I can keep her out of pain & living a life she is still living. Happy!!!! Then she will let me know when she is ready to go to Heaven. I know what's best for her more than anyone else. Not a doctor in the world is going to mk that decision for me. I've said before she was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor awhile bk. I took her to the TOP vets & saw numerous. Everyone of them told me she had 6 months to a yr to live. I decided again not to do all the radiation & more surgery like they all told me to do....still guaranteeing nothing. And 5 years later this girl still acts the same! 2 years ago she pulled her ACL out chasing a squirrel. Again, every vet told me she needed an operation ASAP! I did my research & found some vets who actually don't just want your money. They told me she did NOT need surgery. I was told to keep her immobile for 6 to 8 weeks & it will heal itself. That was 2 years ago & she can out run me. She's been attacked on two different occasions by other dogs (and don't let that sweet face fool u...she's a fighter). Both times I jumped in. So, 2 dog fights, a techna shot, a total of 50 plus stitches between us, a tumor that was suppose to kill her 5 yrs ago, an ACL they thought would end up with hvn her leg amputated AND she was severely abused the first year of her life. Now bone cancer??!!! NO NO NO!!! I can't even think of my life w/out her. This might sound crazy but honestly believe she is hanging on until I meet someone bc she doesn't want to leave me alone. Ok. Now I'm bawling. Tissue please? We are both fighters & I would never ask this if I didn't feel it was necessary & could help. She has made me believe in miracles bc she has proven they happen. I absolutely believe God hears our prayers & listens. The more prayers the better. Pls pray for her!!!!!! She is my child & I love her more than words could ever describe. Thank you all & GOD BLESS! Once again I have written a book. U all are the best. I'll let Phoebe know how many friends she has. :)))))))) ❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏🐶🐶🐶🐶

4me @phoebescloset11 I don't know where to begin. I lost my Doberman 11 years ago to osteosarcoma. I was hours away from booking a flight for me and him to go to the University of Colorado for possibly amputating the leg and having a prosthetic made. My local vet pleaded with me not to do this only because they could not guarantee that the cancer has not spread to other parts of his body. Also due to his size my vet said a prosthetic on a front weight bearing leg would be extremely difficult for him. I listened, I went to therapy and I cried my ass off. I begged for the best medicine, at this point all they offered was pain meds. Phoebe, I'm re living this as I write you and the tears are pouring. You have given your baby a monumental life, you are amazing. I wish the world was full of people like you. I was given 4 months, my dog gave me 9 months. My world changed when he crossed to the rainbow bridge, yours will to, remember, you are not alone🐶❤. All my love.

mojave I know I am not alone when I tell you I'm crying after reading your update....I will adore you forever for what you do for animals ! Just your words & thoughts are so inspiring! I'm not even going to start talking about Momo and what he has gone thru! He too in addition to everything else has been attacked twice by neighborhood dogs! The first time while a friend and her daughter and their chihuahua were walking Momo while I was at the hospital with my dying husband on a ventilator in a coma! That attack cost me over $1000 because my friend's daughter also got bit and they have no insurance! Momo had puncture marks everywhere and was so traumatized! Then his Daddy died 2 days later! The 2nd time a huge rescued boxer broke his chain and slammed Momo so hard we both fell to the ground! The ladies who own him were devastated! It took the 3 of us to get him off of Momo! That resulted with a ruptured spleen , etc. and another $1000+! I have probably put at least $20,000 into this poor lovely animal for the past 8 1/2 years or otherwise I would be saving more animals due to various crazy medical issues! But he is amazingly happy and precious and I can't live without him! And now "Silly Lilly" is bringing him so much joy! I'm so glad I adopted her! She is one little crazy girl! Love her to death! One last thing to share with with everyone.... No matter how heartbroken you are with losing a pet or caring for one who has expensive issues do not let that prevent you from getting another rescue! They need us as much as we need them! We benefit way more with the unconditional love & affection & companionship that they bless us with! Right before we got Momo I rescued a beautiful longhair German Shepard named Mozart who died in my arms outside looking at the mountains after only 3 weeks! I brought him to my vet for a recheck after he was neutered and there was a lot of unusual bruising in that area. He also had red specks in the white parts of his eyes. After blood work, etc. we were told he had a blood parasite disease and my vet, the rescue & my husband & I tried desperately to save him with transfusions that I drove 3 hrs each way to get for him myself, and Malaria medication that I had to search for that cost over $1000 a vial! The end result of course was not what I ever anticipated but I know I gave that dog the best 3 weeks of his life! I will never regret it! The vet, rescue and us split the $4000+ bill and it was worth every penny! I was given his ashes and paw prints in stone, and his scarf that I will cherish forever! I got a phone call days later from the rescue to go to a foster home in Burbank to check out Momo! I was filled with sorrow and hesitation but something made me go! It was love at first sight again, haha! He's my baby and as long as the quality of his life is okay then I will do anything I absolutely can to keep him healthy and happy! I would sell my house for him and live in a tent!! He loves camping anyway, haha! So people I have 2 dogs, I cat( my other cat passed away about 3 weeks ago at age 16 while sleeping in his little bed by the woodburning stove at home), and 1 bird that for whatever reason became or was to become homeless and they are my treasures in this life, gifts from GOD himself! You have to join this fight! This is one we can win!

dawnnesbitt So sorry for Phoebe's diagnosis! I will pray for her daily. I live close to Portland OR, and someone here just got caught with 65, yes 65 poodles!!! I love Poodles and have two, one who was a show dog and never even learned to play, and one that was purchased and left outside all of the time with only a crate for shelter. She will be one on Wednesday and is now spoiled rotten! I love them so much, but I also really miss my white poodle, Mercedes. She went through my cancer with me and never left my side! Her picture is in my closet too. I miss her every day. Please pray that people adopt these 65 poodles too. They were living in terrible circumstances! That'll for all the animal love!!

He was just a few weeks and haws from a dog fighting ring. He had broken ribs and indentation of mouth being taped shut. I can not tell you how he has changed my life. Reading about your furry baby I am so thankful to God that you saved him. Bu we both know they also save us. Because they are the most loving and loyal dogs ever. I will pray for your dog. I really am thankful you wrote this. I felt very alone today. And I didn't know where to express my feelings for the fact my loving dog is dying. I am blessed we are friends on posh. I pray for your baby and also you. I believe we should always pray in good times and in bad. God is in change. I also agree with letting them live out there life as long as not suffering. It is very hard to see my dog like this. He also was denied because of his BREED to be treated at a few veterinarians that don't want to both with Pitbulls. andine I hope you and your precious Phoebe are doing OK! God bless you for being so compassionate. I rescued 4 cats from Spain, and countless dogs, cats and even a bird and a squirrel once when I was growing up. The squirrel was lying in the middle of the road - looked like it could have been alive. Cars everywhere on this busy 4 lane avenue. Stopped traffic, wrapped it in my sweatshirt and took it to the nearest emergency vet. Of course, they can't help because it is "wild" but we watched it for a bit and it looked like it had just been stunned. It had a small nick on its side but was fine. Ran off into the bushes. I was in high school then and I remember crying because I was sad it wouldn't see it's family again because the vet was so far from where I had found it. 😥 also rescued a gorgeous Bufflehead Duck in a parking lot last month. Looked like someone had kicked it or something. So awful. Wrapped it up in my jacket but it died shortly thereafter - at least it didn't die in some stupid parking lot. You are right- There are so many animals that need help. They need compassion. And they need people like you who step up to help! My dogs are too big to get attacked, I think. Each is 150 lbs but they wouldn't hurt a fly. The little dogs are the ones who try to intimidate them sometimes - probably infuriates them that they don't get a reaction. I've heard a way to break up a dog fight is by pulling their back legs out from under them. Or with a strong spray of water, but where would you find that if you're just out for a walk. Caring owners, people who take time to love and train their animals, will be so rewarded with the companionship only an animal can give! I wish all owners were responsible. Breeds get a bad name because of irresponsible owners... I met a Rott once who turned out to be the most loving, maternal companion at the park with my puppy. She taught my dog to swim! Yes! And the Rott, when she lost a litter of puppies, carried around with her a stuffed bunny toy for weeks in mourning. The sweetest, gentlest dog... Don't mean to go on here but send my love to you for your compassion for animals. 😘😘😘💚💜💗😘

vivacouture So sweet! I rescued both of my dogs. Princess was my first rescue and they were going to put her to sleep the next day because no one wanted an older "depressed " dog . I immediately took her home and she was my basenji beagle mix princess! She was with me for 13 amazing years and my heart broke into pieces when she passed! She was the best blessing ever! It's great of you to rescue !

mica_craft I have two rescue dogs. One of them was in the owners hand with the bat in the other. He had been very bad. I literally took him out of his hand and begged for his life. He finally told me ok. That was five years ago and doing great. I just rescued another one. The people moved and left him behind. It hurts my heart so bad😪. Your baby is gorgeous 🎀

He put a knife on a broom stick ,wrapped it with tape and stabbed his cat to death.. There was blood all over the house. His brother called the police and they took him into apprehended him. akclouser I know u r being bombarded w/comments & well wishes so I will keep this short & to the point. I am truly sorry for ur recent bad luck along w/poor Phoebe's. I am a fellow animal lover, I volunteer for a rescue group, I foster babies in my own house & I have rescued all of my own which the current count is 8!!!! I always say all my kids have four legs & they r my soul. I am lucky enough to have married the man of my dreams who loves em all as much as I do & allows me to bring fosters into our home. I believe my count is going to increase by one, I may have my first "foster failure!" For those of u who aren't familiar w/rescue talk, it means that I am fostering one who I have decided to keep as opposed to adopt out!!!! Her name is Harmony & when I took her in over 10 months ago I saved her & her 2 1 week old kittens from being put down. Her babies I named Yin & Yang cause there was a white female Siamese & a male charcoal grey Devin Rex (curly haired). Ikr!! Sooooo cute!! Anyway, they were all covered head to toe in ringworm. Harmony was hugely under weight, her long coat was matted dull & flat. We had to get the kittens old enough to be weined, then they all started getting treated for the ringworm, 8 weeks later kittens were ready to be adopted out, it was right around Christmas & they quickly got forever homes & made their new "kids" very happy. Now when we got them we noticed Harmony was limping. We thought maybe she dislocated it giving birth or just strained it before we saved her. It became apparent that it wasn't getting any better so we took her in for x-rays. The doc originally thought maybe she had gotten hit by a car before we saved her. Whatever it was her femer head in her back hip had been breaking away & was getting lodge in her hip joint. 2 weeks later she went into surgery to shave down the femer head & get as many of the pieces out as possible. The surgery went well & while she may always limp it at least wouldn't be causing her any pain. (I know, so much for short, huh?) anyway while she was there recovering they took a follow up x-ray & discovered now her other hip was breaking down too. The only thing they could figure is she has some kind of disease that causes her bones to break down. I brought her home for recovery, which would any where from 2-6 months, she continued to live in a 4 foot round kitten play pin because she was not allowed to run & play & jump. Then when we got her good & healed, along with happy & healthy, gained a pound and a half & her coat big & fluffy like a long hair coat should be we went in for round 2 of major hip surgery. The second hip was worse then the first & they had her open on the table for 3 hrs!!!! This beautiful baby is a trooper like no other I've ever seen!!! The doc did the best he could & we now think she will definitely have a permanent limp. We r 3 months into her recovery & I let her out of her play pin every night for a few hrs & all she wants to do is love on us & all our other babies!!! Is has the sweetest & kindest heart I have ever known. U can just feel the love radiate from her like the warm spring sun. She feeds my soul & I can only hope that we feed hers! Now, for those of u who don't know adult animals r difficult to place, black animals r very difficult to place & special needs babies damn near impossible to place. She will need supplements her entire life in hopes that we can prevent her from having to have any more surgeries. With all these things going against her & with having been through so much w/her I just can't bear the thought of letting her go, just not gonna happen !!! Even if my hubby is in denial about it! :). Anyway, the whole point to this was that the rescue group put her story out there & asked for donations. Through the grace of God we raised enough money to pay for one of her surgeries & we were very grateful!! So my thought is.... Put a listing up for ur wonderful baby asking for donations to help u get the treatment u need for her. I am sure I am not the only one who would be willing to donate to ur wonderful babies well being!!!! My thoughts & prayers & those of all 9 of my furr babies go out to u & dear sweet phoebe for a quick recovery. Pls let me know if there is anything that I can do to help & support u!!!!

mauishopgirl We're pretty sure our moi moi was abused too (pit/heeled/lab mix, 100% sweetheart). She used to cower if you lifted your hand up and was really weird about food (owners may have lured her with food to "punish" her). After repeated praise given with treatsbshe can finally eat dinner without stress and is less nervous overall. Yours is a beauty.

My kitty was about 1 when I got her from the shelter with other male cats she out lived until the age of 24. We had a year long battle with kidney failure. I can't remember memories without her. phoebescloset11 @mojave Donna, I am more than happy to help anybody who needs it. CoCo will be completely back to normal & healthy. 🙏Now I have this horrible guilt I haven't done that for Phoebe. I know that sounds awful...that I feel some guilt helping Dawn. HORRIBLE! I just don't ask for help for myself. I spend $200 to $300 monthly to keep her alive & out of pain. I donate 10% of what I make on here to animals with NO homes & have rescued too many to even count. I have never even told anybody that until now. I spent over 2 hrs tagging ppl while sitting next to my dad in the hospital helping Dawn & CoCo. Why can't I even do that for Phoebe? I feel weak & don't want anyones pity. She is my life but again, I have never been one to ask for help. I'm glad Dawn reached out, but I didn't even get a thank you. What a terrible thing for me to even say, I know. She owes me nothing. Well, I finally 'kinda' got a "thank you" after a wonderful friend said smthn in a very nice way on one of her sold listings. I knew smthn was up so I went researching. She made so many sells, got donations & I REALLY am happy for that. I sincerely am or I would never have helped. So why am I feeling guilty now?!?!? I can't quit crying bc I let my own dog down. I am tempted to just cut my prices in half bc I need the money. Doing this all on my own is starting to really take its toll. I will give up my home to save her. I'm so pathetic! The tears hvnt stopped all night & are STILL streaming down my face. Then there is you. I know what u have gone through & are still going through & I feel so selfish. I'm sooooooooo incredibly sorry for all you have endured. You are such an inspiration & give me the courage to just keep going. I wish I had your strength Donna. U should write a book. They really do end up rescuing you in the end. I was blessed to be his mommy. The Japanese dog was sick and dying and show up at our front door and about 6month old. Now she made 2yrs but still have the trauma so sad. Hard to fix her problem although we give her lots of love. keg90 👍💗💗 we had to put our sweet baby to sleep after he was very ill & miserable 😕😕 I told my husband we would take another dog when one needed us & that is how we got Charley- our Airedale Terrier, we are his 3rd home & when he came to us he hardly had any hair on his legs & the vey said he had the worst infestation of fleas she had ever seen...😕😕😬😬💗 now Charley is happy & healthy & a member of our home & he has rescued me yes through some horrifying trauma 💗 ❤️ I can't imagine life without him. jacqueray @phoebescloset11 ......I read the original listing you wrote (brought tears just thinking about the love I know you were feeling as you typed.....) and started reading the f/u comments but had to stop very quickly as it brought such sadness to my heart. My entire adulthood up to this very day (I'm 47...adopted 1st at 26) has been devoted to the lives of so many desperate, phys and mentally injured and betrayed animals. I were naming and counting all of mine over the yr's and after I got to 60, I stopped. I will name them, but I've never used #'s as a rule. Anyway, I applaud you for not only saving a life, but continuing to speak out about saving the lives currently in need of and those who will unfortunately come into the world of greed and in compassion. In America alone, we euthanize over 3 million unwanted dogs and cats alone. That is morally incomprehensible. I don't know how your baby is doing as I type. I scrolled up some to try and figure out if there was anything new and sensed maybe her health was not the best but I could be wrong. I read where you wrote that you didn't know what you would do without her physical presence in your life. I will tell you what I personally would hope as I promise you, she does, hope you will do....... You will be even more passionate and outspoken about the lives of those precious babies and she will continue to be shared by you to others in hopes that her life was only valuable while she was alive. Don't place an expiration date on her. If you just cave in to the pain of her physical absence, you will be unable to save the ones you will pass along that journey. Please don't do that to her. That wouldn't be the Mommy she has known every single day since you both met. Dare I mention it would also be be very selfish. That's not you. Honor each day for you both being changed .....happy, healthy, important. =) It's so hard to express to those you pass along this journey, without being able to look you into their eyes, what our heart is trying so desperately to say.... my time and words are as sincere and personal to you as l possibly know for them to be. ublookn Awwwww...we have a rescue that was left for dead on the streets of Tampa after being hit by a car. He was to be put down the day after we brought him home because the Center said "he's a Pitbull and we're not putting money into saving a breed that kills people". Broke my heart. Those words eat at me everyday. Well, we did put money into saving his life and he is happy, healthy and the most living smart baby I ever had. Not a minute goes by that we aren't grateful to have him in our lives. Your baby is absolutely beautiful and I'm proud of you for saving a life too!! 🙏

(Even though she is 12, I know you must still consider her your baby! 😊) My husband and I just drove from Boston to Chicago this last January to rescue our puppy and he has added such a new dimension to our family and we love and adore him so much. kristielizabeth I have two rescues myself! They are my life and they rule this house lol! I wouldn't trade them for the world! The humane society is a wonderful thing and they adopt out wonderful pets. Every year, thousands of "pure breed" dogs that didn't make the cut at puppy mills are dropped off at the pound and left to be put down. It's disgusting! Thank you so much for sharing! You are so right rescue is the only way to go!
