hallenmae @kiwilderside Morning! Does the hole have threading? If so, it could have had a stopper, & could be used to store perfume/rose water. Or, the hole could have housed a faux watch crank (like a pocket watch). The other possibility is that it is just a finding for a necklace or keychain. The short chain would have definitely had a jump ring that would be connected to a larger chain if it was a necklace or chatelaine. Has the look of a reproduction. 😁

kiwilderside @hallenmae Thank you so much! Love your thoughts and insights. It is from an estate of someone who passed in 2009. It seems very sturdy and from another time. So, if it is a reproduction, I am thinking it might be a 1980s or 1950s tribute to an old piece. Thanks again! ❤️
