Vintage JAMES GALANOS Couture Tailored Brown Knit Midi Dress, Sz 8

Most remembered for dressing his numero-uno California client and first lady Nancy Reagan, from her days as an young actress in 1960s Hollywood all the way through her White House years in the 1980s (and her West Coast social circle including Betsy Bloomingdale and Leonore Annenberg as well), the designer was also a favorite of stars like Rosalind Russell, Marilyn Monroe and Diana Ross in their heydays. This couture dress was designed by James Galanos in the late 1960's. The style is what was called a "Midi". More Tea length today. It matches the coat that I have up but is in a lightweight knit with. It is very tailored with wonderful pleated and buttoned cuffs. The waist is more like a cummerbund and has some give to it. The dress buttons all the way down with hidden buttons and has two clasps at the waist. While the dress is in very good condition it has one tiny flaw. Near the neck on the front is a very tiny hole that does not go through. I noticed it as I used a spyglass for my old eyes. A tailor could fix that if it bothers you, or you could wear jewelry or a scarf.
