To introduce one-off, unique styled, Tamara Mellon created her sub-branch, Lab. The very first style Lab, Moriyama, was “an ultra-suede, laser cut boot mimicking the look (and sexiness) of fishnet stockings” (The Snobette, 2016). The Moriyama boots (three heights introduced) were inspired by the Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama. Mellon reportedly (The Snobette) created the boots to honor the sensuality of Moriyama’s “Tights & Lips” series shown at London’s Michael Hoppen Gallery in 2012.
