I have bought numerous brands of knives and the blades have always been stainless. Sterling would not hold up to repeated abrasions. Also, the handles are filled with cement to hold the handle shell, which is Sterling, to the knife blade. If you cut the handle off, and remove all of the cement debris, the handle itself, based on design, will normally weight about 1 to 2 ounces. Too many count the weight with the cement and stainless blade in the Total Weight.
