Navajo pearl necklace with thunderbird pendant, signed by Tom Dewitt. Tom created over 20 Thousand pieces in his lifetime, and only a handful of pieces ever come up for sale. There is a reason for that. They are hard to part with. This pendant and necklace are not marked sterling but test for silver. Tom’s pieces are not marked sterling that I have seen, however his crossed arrows D hallmark is clear. The turquoise on this piece is spectacular. The color, the matrix, and the incredible high gloss of the stone attest to its gem grade quality. The +/-5 mm pearls have a patina, are free of dents, and are approximately 20 inches long. Traditional hook clasp makes for easy fastening. The beads appear to be strung on foxtail chain. See all photos for specs. Total weight approximately 37 grams per my kitchen scales.
