The Famous Royal Worcester Porcelain Egg Coddlers, Set/3 Standard Size
You know the deal - Let's Make A Deal!!!!
I love Soft Boiled Eggs - What a way to serve that special egg for you and 2 friends or family members
To use a Royal Worcester egg coddler, butter the inside, crack one egg nto it, season, and screw on the lid. Stand the coddler in a pot of boiling water so the water comes halfway up the side, and simmer for 5-10 minutes or to your desired doneness
When viewing the cover picture the pattern names from left to right are;
1) Bournemouth
2) Birds
3) June Garland
They are from the good old days - used but in excellent condition in my opinion
An original box that holds only 2 of them has some spotty darker stains on top, please view pics/video, you can see that there.
The story of the Royal Worcester egg coddler starts with their popularity in Europe in the late 19th century, with the first known Worcester coddlers appearing at Grainger's China Works in the 1880s. Initially made of earthenware, they became associated with high society after being used on the Imperial Yacht of the last Tsar around 1900. Royal Worcester recorded them as 'Premier Egg Cups' from 1910 to 1928, and by 1931, the company began manufacturing them from a new, fireproof porcelain material.
Like many kitchen gadgets, egg coddlers eventually fell out of favor, but vintage Royal Worcester versions have become sought-after collector's items for their beauty and functionality.
