Incredible 1978 Halston IV Plunged & Pleated Black Wrap Dress w/ Balloon Sleeves – Rare Runway-Linked Style This is a remarkable Halston IV piece from Spring 1978, the same style that appeared on the runway (the original version was worn by Pat Cleveland). This design was produced for both the main Halston line and the Halston IV line—each constructed differently, but visually almost identical. The dress features tiny pleating throughout, Halston’s signature minimal-seam construction, and a dramatic plunged wrap front secured with inner hook & eye closure. The elastic waist gives ease and shape, and the long curved sleeves billow beautifully above the elastic cuffs. The skirt wraps and moves fluidly when you walk, allowing a subtle flash of leg.
