Interesting Background:
Optyl first produced licensed Playboy eyewear lines in the late 1970s, creating a collection of stylish, lightweight, and fashionable sunglasses made from the unique Optyl resin plastic invented by Wilhelm Anger. These iconic 70s and 80s frames, often bearing the "Made in Austria" trademark, were popular for their distinctive designs, quality material, and association with the Playboy brand.
Licensing - Playboy licensed Optyl, an Austrian company, to design and produce their eyewear.
Material - The sunglasses were made from Optyl, a special resin-based plastic invented by Wilhelm Anger. This material was known for being lightweight, comfortable, and having a "memory" capacity.
Era - The eyewear lines were primarily produced in the late 1970s and 1980s.
Design - The frames featured fashionable and distinctive designs, including popular aviator shapes.
Quality - The Optyl material was considered a luxury item, and the frames were more than just basic mass-produced sunglasses.
