This aligns with sources estimating that 85% of textiles (including clothing, sheets, and towels) are either landfilled or incinerated, with landfill being the dominant disposal method Globally, around 57% of textile waste is sent to landfills annually, with an estimated 25% incinerated and only 20% collected for recycling or reuse Platforms like Poshmark contribute to the reuse market, which diverts some textiles from landfills. However, their impact on the overall percentage of textile waste landfilled in the U.S. and globally is modest due to the scale of textile waste and systemic challenges in recycling and consumer behavior We have a long way to go but… I am here to try to make a difference!
