Penguin Ice Bucket

Great vintage condition! Handles are in very good condition. Minimal light scuffing and very minimal tiny rust dots. The inside gasket is brittle and there is rust around it (see pic). Suggest replacing the gasket and cleaning around the inside rim. The West Bend Penguin Hot and Cold Server is an iconic, spherical, aluminum ice bucket with a penguin motif, produced starting in the 1940s in Wisconsin. Designed by Ralph N. Kircher, it features bakelite handles, and holds about 2 quarts, serving as a functional, insulated item for cocktails or food. Key Features and History Design: A round, polished metal server with a band of penguins walking around the center.Purpose: Insulated to keep ice frozen for 5–6 hours or food hot for 1–2 hours.Origin: Made by the West Bend Aluminum Co., it became a staple of 1950s/60s home entertaining.
