The pleasure is all mine! I have been a vintage clothing dealer for over 30 years and actually make my own line of hats and bags of vintage fabrics--but I love your collection--and the presentation is a delight! Hats are so special and under-appreciated it seems these days! I remember when we ladies (and gentlemen!) all wore them to church and for everyday and it was a time with more civility in many ways! Amazing hat collection! You must have rooms dedicated to storing hatboxes. Enjoyed reading about the history of hats during WW2. An often overlooked fashion statement in this point in time.

ooh Luis ! I love your closet ! Do you know how the feather hats are cared for ? I have 2 and a fur circle w/ veil. but im at a loss when it comes to maintaining them properly.

@hayljm hi Holly! Glad to try and help. You should store vintage hats in boxes and use tissue paper to wrap them with. Never plastic. If they are felt, or fur, you should use cardboard moth traps nearby. You can buy those at Lowes or Home Depot. We have Victorian era ostrich feathers and they are still good. Some other feathers are brittle and fragile, but usually most are very resilient. Treat with care and inspect often, and you should be ok.

oh my gosh, you're the best! I can tell you love these hats ! certainly is part of that era .
I have always loved hats but my tastes run more to cowboy hats and , beach hats etc.
I have inherited a collection of probably 50-60 hats. 60s and up.
church hats with elaborate bows and matching purses , Kentucky Derby hats, wide brim sun hats, fedoras and the like.
as I get them ready for sale I will probably be picking your brain again.! thank you so much

I was just reading over you comments again about feathers . The feathers last longer than the glue that was used to put them on the hats LOL.
I have a couple I just don't know what to do with. the feathers are falling off and they're beautiful feathers but they're worthless unless they're on the hat and the hats worthless without them !what to do ?what to do?

@hayljm Correct. The glue they used last century does not last as long as we'd like. Like anything else, some hats can be restored, and others are a lost cause. If your feathers can be sewn on, you'll be pleased. If your hats ar from the 60's or 70's and ar small and you and to glue them individually, perhaps it is not worth your time. Have fun with your hats!
