Many collectors covet turban hats because they are rare, and scarce. This gorgeous turban from the 1930s' is made of a black, almost see-through, grainy and shiny stretch fabric beautifully draped and gathered. At the front top there is a slightly stiff oval structure covered by the material, creating this most attractive and unusual shape. You can just picture a high society maven, or a celebrity wearing it to an event, making a smashing entrance. You can also picture yourself today making a grand entrance wearing this rare beauty.
(See last photo) From a 1938 Sears Catalog: Women Turbans 1938 - This Sepia Color 1938 Sears Catalog page ad states it's time for Turbans when you want to look dressed up. Shown are women in Halo Turban, Felt Turban, Tall Turban and Aqua Sec Rain Away Velvet Turban.
There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.
