That would be a useless scam to just damage clothes and get money back.
Your packaging was lovely and I believe you are honest and sell high quality items, I think this particular rip in the dress was just missed!
There is no scam happening here I believe it was an honest mistake.
I am keeping the dress and paying to get it altered because it is still wearable.
