He’s been my best friend for 15 years, and right now he’s fighting for his life. A few weeks ago, he stopped eating and hid under the bed—completely unlike himself. Tests showed a large mass near his liver, severe inflammation, and dangerously low blood counts. He’s lost over 7 pounds in just a few months, and the oncologist believes it’s cancer. He needed to stay overnight for testing, a blood transfusion, and supportive care. The estimate just for those two days was $7,000—something I simply can’t manage on my own considering he’s had other medical issues I’ve been covering since January and I’m just maxed out. And this is only the beginning. Salem will need ongoing tests and treatments, and the costs are expected to reach at least $10,000.
