newyork222 Happy Thanksgiving, bud. 💕🌻🌻💟 We've had quite the week, having been without power for 7 days. No heat, light, we don't have a gas stove, so no stove. No generator, so just using the fireplace, candles, flashlights and whatever was left at the one grocery store running off their generator. Our house was 43 degrees and I can tell you I've never been so cold for so long. A windstorm - hurricane type winds - blew through here last Tuesday. Ours was one of the hardest hit zip codes.

newyork222 @nic39 It uprooted one of our 60' blue spruce trees at the root ball, leaning it against the distribution power lines. We got home just as it toppled and, of course, that's when we lost power.

newyork222 @nic39 line crews from here, CA, NV, MT and OR have been working 18-hr shifts to restore power to the city. Some of them drove 1,000 miles or more in their own line trucks to get here. We have something like 97 crews here. This just after the crazy fires this summer. We just got our power back Tues late afternoon and we are lucky. Some still without - looking like by tomorrow night. Meanwhile, we've also had snow and it was 15 degrees last night.

I would be miserable😫 I'm jealous of the snow though we don't get that much in SC and I love it❄️❄️ I know I probably wouldn't if I had to deal with it all the time but it's so pretty😉 So y'all have power now?? I can only think of one thing to do with no power or heat😉😂

anna_redbridge @newyork222 Oh my goodness! I just read the comments you posted! I feel terrible for you. We lost power for 4 days a couple of years ago and experienced similar situation, although, luckily, not as cold. Since that time, we lost power again and purchased a generator....just can't take chances when the power lines run above the ground and surrounded by trees! I guess you really have something to be thankful for today...many blessings to you and your family. Be safe :)
