I live that you do this! I've volunteered since I was a kid, mostly w/animal rescue but some people stuff too. I have my cosmetology license & every year while working in that industry I'd go to all the supply stores to see if they had anything they could donate, bugged my coworkers for the same & I'd donate bag loads of beauty care items to my local women's shelter. I really miss being able to volunteer. I hope after I get well to get back into it! Anyhow you're awesome doing this!

@royalfunkies oh honey I hope you feel better soon. It's tough being ill when there is so much you want to do. I have some of the same problems.
I love being able to do things to help these women. It has taken years for me to be in a good enough place emotionally to start doing this. It's great therapy for me and helps them. Two for one π

It does feel really good to do this kind of stuff, I really miss it. I understand though when you say how it's taken years for you to get to the point of being able to do it. For me the hardest part was seeing the abuse & neglect but knowing we were saving lives & bringing happiness to others was the big reward. It's definitely not easy work. That's why I always like to commend others who volunteer because I think it can be misunderstood as an easy thing to do!

I can't continue to fund this myself so I'm looking into turning this idea into a non profit. Women in these shelters need help being built back up more than once a year :) keeping fingers crossed π

@treefrogjewel hi sweetie!! You are the Angel !! Just so you know. These ladies are also ALWAYS in need of clothing and some nicer things for job interviews and school. They need shoes, handbags and anything that helps them get ready to go back out into the world. The shelter is in desperate need of paper towels, toilet paper and non perishable items and donations for groceries. @jenniferschuite I can give you the phone number to the shelter if you like. I'm not sure how they work things being sent in. I know they are cautious with giving out the location for obvious reasons. I guess I need to get answers to these questions now that I'm getting more offers of donations. I usually take them in.

I don't think they really believed me until they saw the donations and help at Christmas time. I may have a lot of physical limitations but give me a computer and a credit card and I can move mountains !! Lol π
