This fabulous Italian vase is by Capodimonte & features a Art Deco gypsy or “Zingarella” as the Italians call them! This beauty is a very rare/scarce piece that in my extensive searching has not been found. Heck, I’ve never seen another like it in my almost 35 years of antiquing & collecting! The only Capodimonte vase with this form I’ve found has a rose cameo center, & although that one was mentioned to have been from the 50’s, it’s most definitely not. A loved one emigrated from Italy with it in tow in the early 1980’s, & the form/shape/manufacturing is pure 80’s Italian glam! Measuring 6”x5”x3”, it’s a delightful, light ivory, gloss glazed porcelain ceramic with a gold metal framed center medallion showcasing a gorgeous gypsy donning her flowing bohemian robes & beaded headdress dancing in the open field, appearing as free as can be! Both stickers of Fontaine on the side (which I can only assume is the artist) & the timeless Capodimonte with crown marking on the base are fully intact.
