lsm914 Hi! this isn't a sample bag. There should have been a leather glue in registration number in that plank oval. It's common that they fall off over the years. based on your specs - it's probably style number 9430 ( slim satchel standard) from the late 70's / early 80's. It's. great piece! :-)

whiteman1750 yes, you are right....there was old crusty glue in the blank which I cleaned off. I bought this in Appomatics, VA at an old estate which had been owned by a NYC model. She had over 100 old purses mostly Coach. Her daughter said she did runways in NYC and many of the purses were given to her mom after the show.
