Asian lacquer red black gold floral vintage divided box with lid 7.5" x 5.5"

Beautiful Asian box that I assume is vintage--I don't know the maker, the age, or the original purpose. It has minimal dividers on the inside--perhaps it was for calligraphy with a spot for a brush on the left. There is some wear and paint loss, with some scratched areas on the top of the lid (last photo) but still lovely. Measures about 7.5" x 5.5" and 1.25" deep. Smoke- and pet-free home.
