Antique cotton 25 Patch blue, patchwork and embroidered quilt

Antique cotton 25 Patch blue, patchwork and embroidered quilt. Overall measurements: 66" x 82". Photographed on a queen-size bed. There are 80 of the 25-patch squares that each measure 5" x 5". The 1" squares that make up the 25 patches are made from lovely old calico fabrics. A 25-patch in the middle vertical row is made with darker calicoes (photo) - it is not a repair, and we don't know whether this was intentional by the quilter. Beautiful hand quilting and embroidery, 10 stitches to the inch. Excellent condition - no rips, tears, repairs. One 3/8" stain on the front near the bottom right shown in the main photo and closeup in the enlarged photo; and 3 stains on the back (left to right 3/8", 3/4" and 1/4") that do not come through to the front (closeup enlarged photo). These have remained the same for as long as we've had this quilt. The backing is made from wonderful feed sacks (photo). What a strong quilt. This talented quilter was industrious and economy-minded. We have owned this for approx 45 yrs; bought at an antiques shop in rural NJ, not used by us, on display only in our climate-controlled, smoke-free home.
