This World Series was very significant in American History. It was played just weeks after 9/11. Normally sympathies would lean towards the Diamondbacks, but because of 9/11 people were seeking normalcy and healing - thus the Yankees were favored. The. Diamondbacks ultimately won in 7 games with Luis Gonzalez delivering the series-winning hit. This is also the first time the Diamondbacks won a World Series.
