Went on a bit of spending spree on a ton of John Varvatos stuff because I was bored traveling. Pretty much selling things that don't fit me as I intended.
Beautiful piece, classic John Varvatos leather jacket from the 2006 to 2010 era, if I recall correctly. Really nice fit but - unfortunately - it's too long for me. Fits true to a US Medium, but I like my leather jackets to land a little under my hips, right about or above the waist and this runs to a little under the waist. Beautiful piece though - especially for the age.
I have conditioned and clean this jacket over the years, but I haven't worn it much. I just like to upkeep all my jackets properly- which brings me to my TED talk:
If you buy leather jackets or leather boots or leather anything, remember: it's a piece of skin - literally - from an animal. Just like your face if you expose it to sun, or water, or anything - it will harden, flake, fall apart, and get otherwise damaged. And I want to make sure we all are keeping these classic pieces of clothing aliveh.
How? It's called Leather Conditioner. Sometimes leather milk, sometimes just leather lotion, leather moisturizer - look it up. Chamberlain's is a great one if you want a personally recommendation.
Once every year or two, you want to give it a gentle cleaning and give it a gentle moisturizing and let it set in for about a week. It'll go back to its normal color (itll darken after application). This will keep your jackets alive for a long time.
