This is a vintage Sampson bottle capper, likely from the 1930s. It's a tool used for sealing bottle caps onto bottles, especially for home brewing or bottling soda. The capper is made of metal, and it has a lever that moves freely. The handle has the "Sampson" marking. These cappers were commonly used before store-bought beer and wine became widely available. They are now often collected for their industrial look or as a piece of history. This is a nice piece of steel industrial tooling from the past.
This one is complete and even comes with a nice weathered, yet strong and functional, board to use to help in applying leverage when pulling the lever to cap a bottle. The bottle capper is in great working condition, adjusts height to accommodate practically any size bottle you might want to use. Bottle tops are available for purchase for making your own concoctions. The board is held firmly in place by antique screws that remain in good condition, and I will remove the board from the capper so that it doesn't create a large package and cost a bundle to ship. But the board and screws will be included. It can also easily just be mounted on a table top so the board isn't truly necessary, but it is a nice touch and potentially functional.
It measures about 18" tall, the lever extends from the capper about 12", and the board is just over 28" long. The base measures about 4" x 5". AND, with POSH's great shipping deal it doesn't cost a huge amount to ship -- saves big money!!!
