The bloom seals and protects against bacteria entering the pores. Unwashed: They will last 2 weeks+ unrefrigerated and 3 months+ refrigerated. Washed: They should be refrigerated once they are washed and will last around 2 months+. I recommend washing them just before you plan to use them, if you want them to stay out on the counter or last longer in the fridge.
