Items are photographed from all angles prior to shipping. Sadly I heard stories from other sellers who experienced buyers on Poshmark that had buyer remorse & the buyer had damaged the items upon receiving them, if they do not fit, change their mind, or dislike the item bought. For that reason I photograph ALL items sold prior to shipping. I've sold 350 + items on PM in the last year with 5⭐️Ratings. I didn't think it could happen to me, sadly I've encountered my 1st dishonest buyer on PM 😂

mmnovak @elladaone Thank you for the share. Sadly some Poshmark members take advantage of sellers. I had heard this happens, & have sadly now experienced it. Feel free to post the same listing on your page if you would like. 😉

rachelcottone80 This is aeesome! Lol what do u reccomend if I ordered a package around feb 16th abd is says shipped but I did not receive it yet? I am trying to be patient. The seller has not responded so I'm not sure what steps to take ...

mmnovak @rachelcottone80 Reach out to PM, I had that happen with an item I bought. USPS lost the box. PM has further tracking info they utilize. PM got it to me within a week of my notification. It was in the Phoenix post office? Seller was in Cali,I was in Vegas. Who knows why, but they re-routed it. As for those who damage an item upon receiving it to avoid paying, it's awful! You can protect yourself. Feel free to place this post on your page, and photograph items as you box them up :)

rachelcottone80
rachelcottone80 @mmnovak That happened to my brother and they made him pay for shipping again when he got it then that happened to my godfather and I thought that was odd! Crazy story tho. Did that happen with a customer of yours? If so keep me posted. Wow people are something. I think I will post that now! Thanks for the heads up!!!
Mar 08Reply
rachelcottone80
rachelcottone80 I finally got the box but it's very light and only has 2 of the thirty some things I asked for and 3 things look like they were just random $1 purchases from a garage sale or good will but definitely not what I ordered.
Mar 11Reply
rachelcottone80
rachelcottone80 @mmnovak this purchase makes me not want to make anymore purchases! I didn't get 2 boots & a pair of flats I was expecting and feel like I could have gone to goodwill and spent $6 on the very few clothes items I was sent plus it was a month late! It shoukd have been a box full not under a pound!
Mar 11Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @rachelcottone80 Sorry to hear you had a negative experience with another seller you purchased from. I recommend you reach out to,Poshmark. Sorry I can't recommend another option, because the purchase is not one I was involved in 😂💕 Look at buyer/seller feedback when purchasing. Both negative encounters I experienced came from those with Zero followers.
Mar 11Reply
rachelcottone80
rachelcottone80 @mmnovak I thought I was being paranoid but I had a good experience with you and 1 other person. I have reported it and hope it goes better than it did with ebay bcz I got nothing correct from there and nothing was done and I lost lots of money. If they don't fix it I definitely won't be purchasing anything else online again. Wish me luck! I will go posy my "clean brand new Lauren conrad flats" now lol

Mar 20Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @esme377 It took me my by surprise, yet sadly happens to a percentage of online sellers. I was informed by other PM sellers who wrote about situations on their page. Sadly, I experienced it, and wanted to share the experience to help prevent buyers from having to go through that type of situation 😂💕 Feel free to share or post on your page.

barnezv
barnezv I do the same thing. I've only had 3 ratings of like 200 that weren't 5 stars. 1st woman- 1 star because "her husband didn't like it" 2nd 3 stars "she assumed the brand ran large, bought a size 26 thinking it would fit like a 27 & it didn't" (for the record, I never said they ran large) 3rd- 2 stars, I had wrote tag size XS, it's loose on me I think it will fit a small too in description and she said she is a small and it didn't fit. (I wore it while pregnant so...)
May 23Reply
barnezv
barnezv I've only had one person try to get a refund. But posh denied her. She claimed there was a run in some silk pants. But when posh said she needed pictures, she had a weird excuse why she couldn't take a picture. No pics, no refund. Took a month almost to get my money though while they "investigated"
May 23Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @barnezv Your closet is beautiful dear. Wishing I was tinier so I could fit into more of it. Yes, sadly a few have ruined Poshmark for the honest sellers, so I do this as a precaution after having a negative experience with a buyer who purchased an item and ruined it a week after receiving it & wearing it ( in mint condition on her Facebook photos) then pretending she got a damaged item, to get her $ back. Poshmark investigated and thankfully.......protected me. 😂💕
May 24Reply
barnezv
barnezv Thank You & Like Wise! It's true, a few spoil for many. When people make offers on my items, I often go to their about section and check out what notes they have left for others too. I declined one person simply because she left so many negative comments - felt like she either had the WORST luck of anyone in the world, or more likely, was a bad buyer 😳😬
May 24Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @barnezv That is wise. I do look at sales & feedback. I found those leaving negative & offensive comments in regards to price of a listing......under anyone's Poshmark closet, most often have had no sales or listings in their own closet for others to buy. Karma is interesting.....those who harass others on Poshmark will have it done to them in time 😂💜.

windandwillow @mmnovak This is a great post. Going to share something similar in my closet. Sad, but necessary.
May 24Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @windandwillow Hi Shannon. Your closet is a dream! You can post these exact images if you would like. I don't mind at all. Sadly, a few bad eggs can ruin a great dozen. Thankfully Poshmark truly protects its users & throughly investigates unfortunate situations, brought about by dishonest Poshers. 😂💛. When others recommend selling on similar sites I kindly decline. The 20% Posh keeps allows for us to be protected. That's priceless to me.
May 24Reply
iseasunshine
iseasunshine @mmnovak I have done this always when selling, just as protection for myself. I fortunately have never had any issues selling "online". I have never posted I was doing this. Maybe a good idea though, it should prevent scammers from doing this at all, if they know you have video proof of packaging👍🏼😊 Reposting this😊
May 25Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @isesunshine Thank you 🌞💕 I feel awful that some have made it where Poshmark is an uncertain place to sell your items, without fear of the buyer damaging them. It has only happened to me once, & it was enough for me to protect myself while selling on PM. I've worked in retail sales for over 20yrs, clients return things in brick & mortar stores due to buyers remorse. With PM being return free, sadly a few have damaged goods in order to try and get a refund. Thanks for the share.
May 25Reply
iseasunshine

Both were items sold too PM members with no followers, listings. or purchase history of any kind. 😊💕. Feel free to use the same images and post on your page if you'd like. Unrelated, but I've recently had the same lowball me from two different accounts for one of my higher end items. I canceled the order when I saw! Such a shame that people are willing to take advantage like this
Jun 20Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @lyss91 Hi dear, I had to cancel the recent order for a similar PM member buying a McQueen item from me. I'm almost fearful to list it, without paying the additional $40 for Posh Concierge service. This way it is is sent from the PM corporate office w tracking to the buyer & they can't contest the purchase. 😂💜. Worth the extra $40. Feel free to use the 1st two images if you'd like.

mmnovak
mmnovak @tsnyc1 Hi dear, I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. Doing this is a great precaution. Buyers who damage things upon arrival due to buyers remorse, or size issues are less likely too- when the seller can provide proof of condition when an item is shipped :) Please feel free to use the 1st two images on your own page 😊💕. Jun 21Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @lynnefiore Mine was with a pair of $1,400 shoes that had been worn in a photo shoot for a friend of mine in the country music industry. I sold them under $150 with box, tags, mint condition & zero defects. The buyer wore them in FB photos, yet said they arrived with a broken off heel - keep in mind this brand has steel rod heels. Luckily I video items being packed and PM didn't refund the dishonest buyer. 😂💕. I recommend doing this.
Jun 21Reply

mmnovak
mmnovak @chunglee4819 I am sorry you encountered a similar situation first hand. I agree with you in the long run. Karma will find its way too those with ill intent. pekapeka Hey hey! I just had to comment here again! I'm so sorry to hear all these stories! I still haven't experienced this yet, but have "reposted" thousand started implementing this into my shipping just in case!! And I'm glad I have.
Jul 04Reply
pekapeka
pekapeka Had a bunch of scammer "nonsense" in my feed again today of someone scamming people out of items by disputing and then RESELLING!!! 😳 And that same person also buys cheap and resells for twice as much. Which I guess isn't SO frowned upon, but still, totally sucks for PM as a whole. So thanks again for this post!!
Jul 04Reply
pekapeka
pekapeka Gah! And I'm so sorry to "hi-jack" your posting... But what really gets me on this... Is that it seems people are doing this on items at ALL prices!! I mean REALLY?? It's not okay at any price. But really?! Lol! To damage an item you pay $10 for?? And again, at any price, just don't buy it... Or re-posh it if you have remorse... SMH
Jul 04Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @pekapeka I am sorry to hear you have also encountered this. Sadly dishonest people don't care if it's $1 or $100, one who is dishonest or has ill intent.....has little conscious or concern of their action/behavior affecting others to begin with 😂

I was being accused of Lying and because I didn't take a lot of pictures I had no proof. Fortunately PM sided with me. It was a huge lesson. I almost quit my first day. Now I have only been selling for about 3 weeks and have sold over 75 items. So I'm glad I persevered - never give up!!❤️ thanks for the great idea!!! ❤️❤️❤️ happy 🇺🇸
Jul 04Reply

singaporejones May I ask what exactly you shoot video of, and how you do that, please? I'm trying to figure out if there's any way to streamline that inexpensively, if that's even possible... 😜 I was going to take pics regardless, but I don't know what Posh considers sufficient evidence that a seller isn't at fault. Thanks in advance for any advice! I so wish this sort of self-protection weren't necessary, but obviously it is. 😔
Aug 19Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @singaporejones No added expense is necessary. I use an iPad mini, one can use a camera phone. Take video footage of the item up close & clearly from all angles. Continue video taping as the item is wrapped & placed in the USPS shipping box -tape, seal, & place shipping label on it. Drop at the post office. If PM needs any information you can submit the video & pictures as an email attachment. Hopefully one doesn't have to use it, just my personal choice & added layer of documentation. 😊💕
Aug 19Reply
singaporejones
singaporejones Thanks! Do you just set up your iPad at an angle, so it shoots the packing process all in one take, I would guess? Then back the video up to the cloud, or an external drive, or...? Sorry to be a pest - I know video can eat storage in a hurry, is all, so I'm curious how you handle that part. ☺
Aug 19Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @singaporejones Yes. That is what I do. Once the package is delivered and accepted, then I delete the video. 😉
Aug 19Reply
singaporejones
singaporejones Actually, I should ask what email service you use for sending video - I know Yahoo won't handle a vid shot by my Samsung galaxy s5; it's always too big, even at lower resolution. Or maybe the better question would be what resolution you shoot with? (Sorry, my forte is more with words and pics that don't move. 😁)
Aug 19Reply
singaporejones
singaporejones And thanks for your other reply! ☺
Aug 19Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @singaporejones Sweetheart, I have no clue what the resolution is. I'm not a professional videographer by any means😂. Whatever the auto setting is already on, is what I use. Do what is best for you. Sorry I don't have a better answer in regards to the technological aspect of it for you.

mmnovak @singaporejones You are welcome Janie :)
Aug 19Reply
singaporejones
singaporejones HAHA I TOTALLY GET you! 😂😂😂 Ok, I will tinker. Maybe my phone is set to hi-res by accident. Lower resolution is fine for chat; mid-res is good for listings since they're larger and need good detail. Hi-res is really just for professional printing and showing on a larger screen. The higher the #, the more detail and precision.
Aug 19Reply
singaporejones
singaporejones Most images on the web are 75 dpi (dots per inch) since anything higher isn't really any better looking to the eye. Text is about the same. You don't need 300-600 dpi for text until you print. 7200 dpi is for printing professional photos.

Aug 21Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @spalavra I agree with you 😘❤️ I have heard from other PM member incidents that it occurs most with those who buy, wear, & then try to get funds back. It's the equivalent to me, as those who take advantage of Nordstoms lenient return policy & return/wear items like a rotating door 😂. It saddens me. I work retail & see it first hand every day. Hello people- sell it on PM, re-posh, or join Rent the Runway monthly club, where that is the purpose of the company.
Aug 21Reply
moon_designs
moon_designs @mmnovak Question for you, if you are the victim again of this type of incident will PM allow your photos/videos as evidence as to allow you the safety of a good sale? I agree with you that this is good practice, however, I was unsure if this type of security is upheld by PM to keep you as a great seller. Thank you. If I may, I would like to use your post. :-)
Aug 28Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @moon_designs Hello, photographing items that you personally own, & that you are selling to / or being purchased by another Poshmark member does not break PM rules of any kind. I take additional photos as a precaution, my choice- & have them God forbid PM requested evidence of an item that a buyer/seller might contest. I have thankfully only had ONE encounter w/a dishonest buyer. 😂. Please create your own listing, as I do not want to see my own listing on multiple pages. Thank you 💜

moon_designs Thank you 4 the feedback, I wasn't going to copy your exact post, I only wanted to use the verbiage. I was curious if PM would actually ask for proof of good items sent if a shipment was contested. I have only been on here a few months, but have sold quite a bit, with fantastic reviews, and had 1 bad review, and knew that it was in great condition when it left my home. But I want to become more involved with retail, and like to ask those who have more experience when I have the chance. :-)

mmnovak
mmnovak @moon_designs Use the verbiage😉 My experience was similar to yours. Sold the item. Mint condition. Buyer received it-3days passed. Payment processed. Buyer had buyers remorse saying item received, a luxury shoe had the heel completely broken off? I record my packaging process-showing item was not damaged in any way-as the PM member accused. This is my extra step to protect my closet from dishonest buyers. My family is in law enforcement & I work retail. Dishonesty is a non- negotiable for me.

moon_designs I love that you are so pro-active. It is kinda sad that we have to be, but overall my experience here as both the seller and the buyer have been great. And I did purchase a dress that did not fit quite right, I just re-poshed it. So simple. I guess there are just mean and dishonest people out there. But I still choose to see the glass as half full. Thank you so much for all your input. :-)

mmnovak
mmnovak @moon_designs I am with you. I have bought many items on PM that wasn't as cute on me as I thought it may be, or didn't fit me as I'd like it too. We have the beauty to Re-Posh. We take a loss. I bought a $45 necklace on PM- didn't wear and sold it yesterday for $8 😂. My loss, someone's gain. That is what this website is all about. It all comes out even in the wash / long run 💕

gingerjane I have had two really bad ones, too. One claimed the dress which was brand new smelled like smoke. 😡 NOBODY smokes at my house and my dad died of lung cancer, so I was pretty mad. I hate dishonesty. It sucks.

mmnovak @gingerjane Sorry you had to be on the receiving end of dishonesty 😂💜. It is frustrating at first.....luckily for every one bad experience- there are hundreds more of positive encounters I've had on PM.

mmnovak @lakesidecache fortunately out of 345 items sold in 1yr, I've only had one negative experience of this sort. It was one more than I'd ever have wanted. I thought of closing my PM closet after it occurred, as I was so disappointed with the idea of people cheating a system that was established to help us fill our closets w/great items at low prices. 😂💜. Grateful that another PM member shared this w/me...& I stayed on path. It's a wonderful community that PM has created. Happy Poshing💕

gypsythrift22
gypsythrift22 @mmnovak thanks for the tip. I just started listing my closet, and now I know to take precautions to avoid drama. I've been buying on PM for awhile and encountered many types of sellers. Some go the extra mile and deliver fair deals. Others misrepresent items and stick the buyer with the decision to go to the trouble of complaining, or keep an item that is less than expected. :( However, like others have commented, 90% of my experiences have been excellent. Stay smart and savvy. Xoxo

mmnovak @joannamae22 💜😂 sorry you encountered this type of behavior first hand. Don't let it hinder your Poshmark experience. There are millions of kind and honest PM members on the site too. If a dishonest buyer is aware you have clear imagery of the condition an item is in that you send out, it will deter them from damaging an item-to receive a refund. Just be detailed and up front in your listing descriptions 💕😊 I've received items from sellers in poor condition too.

arosales78 @mmnovak I just started selling over the last month and just got my first negative review and felt really sad & disappointed that I might have cheated someone 😔. Any tips besides making sure I do a better job of describing everything about an item in detail, would be very helpful. Thank you for willing to share this and I really like your closet.
Sep 16Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @arosales78 Thank you for your kind words. Continue listing clear descriptions & take multiple photos. Keep your spirits up. Negative people leave negative reviews. I sold a beautiful NWT $88 dress for under $15. She didn't like the style & left me a 1 star review⭐️😂, her comment was "belongs in the trash" it broke my heart. I knew I'd sent quality product that I paid nearly $100 for. It discouraged me at 1st, but then I realized a bully is just that. Rise above it 💜

chunglee4819 Yes it is true I've had more than i can stand i have had a woman try to lie and i ended the lies when i posted my proof she shut right up but the sad thing was i gave this ugh a free Designer blouse and a discount she still wasn't satisfied she spent 15 dollars i saw that she did another woman like that over 5 dollars wanting to keep her merchandise and get her money back

mmnovak @chunglee4819 Sorry you experienced that. You had mentioned in the above feed, that this had occurred. Hopefully this isn't a new one.....😂💜. Bless your patience and being persistent to prevent this type of incident in the future. Hugs.

Sep 17Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @chunglee4819 That's awful. Sorry you've had an additional experience. Maybe post a similar listing at the top of your Poshmark closet mentioning you record the packaging process & items you are selling. That hopefully keeps known dishonest buyers from shopping your closet. If they know in advance you have video footage, they are less likely to scam people 😂.

brandibrands
brandibrands @mmnovak good for you! I had a listing that pointed out that the neckline was fraying. I photographed it AND mentioned it in the description. The girl bought it and gave me a 3-star rating because she didn't know "the neckline was feathery." That's your problem for neglecting to read the listing. I played by the rules and listed the item's flaw. If you don't read the listing, that's your problem, not mine. You're not alone. We've all dealt with it.

_jess_closet
_jess_closet I am totally going to use your idea and make a post like this. I had a dishonest buyer report me and say my item had "several stains" on it when I know for a fact it did not have even one! Thankfully, Poshmark denied her request possibly because of my good history. I just cannot believe people do that! So unfortunate for the awesome sellers, like you!

slumdumb89
slumdumb89 That's a great way to get your credits early and them to know the condition before you ship. I always wait for item to be sent here and I check condition before I accept order. Probably a jerk. But some people wait forever to ship too..
May 19Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @slumdumb89 It certainly doesn't get credits any earlier- the seller still needs to review and accept the package 1st. I buy often & sell on PM and would hope no one would accept an order prior to opening it, it does protect the seller & buyer if anything is to get damaged in the mail though. I ship within one business day so I can't speak or know what you have encountered on Poshmark with slow shippers😂. Wishing all on PM would be honest & accurate to prevent the App from going downhill 💕.
May 20Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @slumdumb89 I see you have no items listed at this time for sale in your closet. I wish you all the success buying and selling (when you decide to sell on here) in the future. Sadly, because a few others have been dishonest on Poshmark when describing an items condition....I recommend you protect yourself as a buyer & seller ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

jessicasutton
jessicasutton Thanks for posting. Sorry you had the 2 bad experiences. I have been lucky so far, except a coach wallet buy - was appalled & bummed seller never sent it. My "momma bear" came out on that one and I have no regrets at the honest comments I reminded seller PM doesn't pay if buyer does not accept. I like to use same sellers when I can. I would love to use your technique of posting this message and recording my experiences. PM supports us! I love that U help others! Best posh wishes to you!!!

simply_new_york
simply_new_york I received a 3 star & 4 star review on two items that sold exactly as described (with photo evidence of condition... the buyer bought the items anyways and then gave a poor review!) Unfortunately, I have also had the reverse experience where a seller sent me shoes that were extremely low quality and looked nothing like the listing pictures! They even had glue all over the part where the heel meets the shoe! I was shocked when I received them and had to provide photo proof of the terrible shoes!

simply_new_york
simply_new_york It's sad that there are many dishonest buyers and sellers! The Poshmark community is so friendly, inviting, and positive and too many people are trying to bring down its reputation 😞 It's Great to see so many comments on here though. Thank you for sharing and supporting and promoting a positive Poshmark community!!!

mmnovak @cousinbull Record the item (all sides) to show the condition, & as you wrap it up & seal the box. Adhere the shipping label & you are good to go. It's a sad reality that it comes to this. Thankfully I only encountered ONE occurrence, out of 400+ items sold that a buyer was dishonest & damaged the item after she received it . Unfortunately that one time was enough to make me initiate this extra step 😊💕.

rebekahlkelly
rebekahlkelly @mmnovak thank you for this! I just had my first 4 star rating. The jeans arrived the day after purchase (shipped immediately after purchase and buyer only 100 miles away) and the item was new with all tags but they “didn’t fit.” Fabric content was posted and measurements. Grrr.. I will be doing this from now on.
Feb 24Reply
mmnovak
mmnovak @rebekahlkelly I'm sorry you experienced that😢. Some people are just unkind. I sold a new $90 Michael Stars gorgeous knit dress to a lady for $10 who decided because she didn't like it upon arrival to write, 1 ⭐️"Belongs in the garbage" & sent continual harassing msgs requesting for a refund because she had buyers remorse. Poshmark declined her request & I blocked her. I would have rather gifted the dress to a kind stranger than deal with this rude buyer.
