Last Updated: March 16, 2023
Prohibited Products
Poshmark’s marketplace welcomes the sale of most types of new and pre-owned fashion, new personal care items, as well as select home goods, pet items, and electronics with certain restrictions within these categories. For the safety of our users, items outside of our supported categories and otherwise prohibited or unlawful items may not be offered for sale on Poshmark. We reserve the right to remove items and content under this policy, or any other Poshmark policies and Terms of Service, at our sole discretion.
If you sell items on Poshmark, you have a critical role in preventing illegal and potentially unsafe items from appearing in our marketplace, so please be sure your items are allowed to be sold before adding them to your closet. If you list prohibited items, Poshmark may remove them, and you may be subject to temporary or permanent account restrictions.
Any sales involving prohibited items may be canceled and Poshmark reserves the right to withhold payment. Poshmark also reserves the right to dispose or destroy any prohibited items that are sent to our Posh Authenticate centers.
If you’re not sure which laws may apply to you, you may wish to seek advice from a qualified professional.
If you see an item for sale on Poshmark that you believe may be in violation of this policy, please report it to us. We will look into it and take any necessary actions.
Restricted Items
Restricted items include those that are generally allowed but must meet certain conditions in order to be considered in compliance with Poshmark’s policies.
Electronics
Qualifying electronic items must be reset to factory settings if applicable. Sellers must sign out of or disable any personal accounts prior to shipping.
Makeup and personal care products
Makeup and personal care items, including personal applicators, must be new, never swatched, and alcohol-free. Mystery Listings
“Mystery listings” or grab-bag style bundles are permitted at the buyer’s and seller’s own risk. Mystery listings for unclaimed parcels and listings involving chance winnings or a contest are not allowed. In order to qualify for seller protection in the event of a dispute involving a mystery listing, sellers must:
- be aware and disclose key details about the item(s) included in the mystery listing such as quantity, brand(s), size(s) and condition of each item.
- keep the mystery box on camera and reveal the contents upon completion of the auction if sold during a Posh Show.

For health and hygiene reasons, used socks and underwear may not be sold on Poshmark. New undergarments with tags attached are allowed to be sold in clean, unstained, and unused condition. Pre-owned bras and swimwear are allowed. Do not use any fetishizing language or imagery in your listing.
Prohibited Items

Counterfeit and Infringing Products
Counterfeit products are illegal to buy and sell, and strictly prohibited on Poshmark. Often referred to as “replicas,” counterfeit items may include fakes, knockoffs, bootlegs, and otherwise illegally replicated goods.
Examples of prohibited counterfeit items include but are not limited to:
- Branded handbags, sneakers, and sports jerseys that were not produced by a licensed manufacturer, like a purse bearing the Chanel name or logo that was not made by Chanel;
- Altered products made by repurposing all or portions of trademarked and authentic branded items into a different item without the rights owner or brand’s permission; and/or
- Pirated or unauthorized recordings of digital media, like movies and TV shows.
See our Counterfeit Items Policy for more information.
Be careful not to present your items in a way that may infringe on the intellectual property rights of others or mislead buyers about who made the product. Do not use descriptors like "inspired by" followed by a brand name, like “inspired by Chanel.” Buyers and brands may interpret this as if your item is an unauthorized copy, even if you may not intend it that way.
Make sure that you have the rights to sell any items you list on Poshmark. Do not upload any images that you didn't take, that are of other people without their permission, or that you do not have the rights to use. Poshmark will promptly process and investigate notices of alleged infringement. See our Copyright Policy for more information.
