Scenic handbags, especially ones depicting castles, were all the rage in the first three or so decades of the 20th century. You might buy one while you were touring Europe, so that at home you'd always have a great bag and a great story to tell about your travels.
This bag features a northern (think Poland and Germany) style castle built over water, with nice bits of nature filled in. It's a very good size, measuring 8.5 wide and 11 inches long, and the condition is great too--it even has its sturdy cotton lining! Which means that you might want to strengthen some points of connection with the frame and then use this one, carry it out for an evening or a history-influenced event. You, too, will have a conversation piece.
The two sides are identical. In photos, side 1 is simply presented; to indicate side 2, I imaginatively used two fingers.
Flaws: But of course time does not simply stop flowing, even for a fabulous bag. This is an antique, and it shows some signs of wear. As always happens, there is bead loss and wear at the hints of the frame. Minor bead loss in the fringe; this is easy to repair if someone has matching beads.
The frame has been painted outside; inside, it shows some speckles. It has no true silver content and is probably made of German/alpaca silver (which is not actually Ag). You'll notice the chain handle has oxidized.
Please study all photos carefully.
