lipi20 Latest update! Kelly is going to have a ct scan on her lungs today. Looks like she has pneumonia in one lung and fluid in another. They want to determine if it needs to be drained. Still aiming towards partial wake-up

lipi20 Hello everyone! Cgweezie here with the latest update from Lori: Kelly does have pneumonia and she contracted it in the hospital. But she does not have fluid thankfully and does not need to have her lungs drained. They took her off all the sedation meds yesterday. Now just waiting for her to break thru, which could take a few days. Lori said Kelly looks really peaceful today

lipi20 5/16/26 update: Kelly went for a brain scan again today. They are concerned because she isn’t waking up. She has a rash over a large portion of her body. She does open her eyes when Lori talks to her but no response. It’s definitely a rough day for Lori and it’s really weighing hard on her. Please continue sending your prayers, positive energy and love for both of them. 💗

lipi20 5/17/26 update: The brain scan from yesterday discovered that Kelly has had a mini stroke since she’s been there. They are going to put leads on her to monitor for seizures next. She also had an MRI today. No change as far as waking up. The doctors are concerned, but not overly concerned yet. 2:00 pm today is 72 hours since they took her off the sedation meds. Lori mentioned that she is actually overly concerned, which is understandable.

lipi20 6 mins 5/18/26 Hello my friends. Here is today’s update : Kelly’s kidneys are not great but doing okay for now. They are taking out the ventilator and putting in a tracheotomy today or tomorrow. This is basically just a different method, as the tube from the ventilator is uncomfortable and can cause sores. She is now hooked up to the EEG to monitor her brain activity and watch for seizures. I asked Lori how she herself is holding up and she said she’s doing ok.

lipi20 5/19/26 update: Hello friends! Kelly had her surgery this morning to take out the ventilator tubes and to put in the tracheotomy. The surgery ended up taking much longer than anticipated, but she seems to be doing well. She is going to have a scan done on her spine to make sure all the blood flow is working correctly. Her kidneys have not improved since the last scan.

lipi20 5/18/26 Second update: As was mentioned in the last update, Kelly had the ventilator removed and a tracheotomy put in, and they had some complications which made the surgery take longer than expected. Well shortly after surgery the tracheotomy failed (it fell out), and so she had to have another surgery to insert it again. Unfortunately, that also failed.

lipi20 So she is now back on the ventilator and will be having another surgery tomorrow to try and insert the tracheotomy again, this time with a more specialized surgeon. In addition, they want to give her an MRI on her spine to check for adequate blood flow. They are still trying to figure out why she won’t wake up, although the anesthesia from these tracheotomy surgeries is compounding that issue. She again wanted me to express how much you all mean to them & she is so grateful

lipi20 5/20/26 update: They ended up not doing the tracheotomy today. Maybe tomorrow. They started Kelly on dialysis today for her kidneys. No change on waking up

lipi20 5/20/26 second update: Lori got some good news about Kelly! Kelly just had a lumbar puncture and they drained some fluid off her spine. This can help in identifying infection, help clear some mental confusion and hopefully help her wake up! 💗

lipi20 5/21/26 Update: Kelly started dialysis last night. They are taking a biopsy on her arms to investigate her rash. She is still waiting for surgery for tracheotomy. They are draining fluid once an hour from her spine. The EEG has been removed since, thankfully, there has been no seizure activity. And she is still sedated because they are waiting for surgery 💗

lipi20 5/21/26 Second Update: Kelly had her tracheotomy put in tonight. It was successful!! Now they can officially try to wake her up!! Woohoo

lipi20 5/22/26 update: Today they changed Kelly’s central line and they said she had an infection. She is officially off all sedation now, so hopefully she will wake up. She is moving her head , arms and legs, but they say it is non purposeful movement. (She isn’t consciously moving)

lipi20 5/24/26 update: Kelly is very restless today. Lori is going to go back to the hospital later and see how she is doing. There aren’t any doctors around, so no new information as of right now

lipi20 5/25/26 Update They took Kelly off the ventilator this morning to see how she does. It will be on and off until they are sure she can breathe on her own. She responds sometimes to talking to her but not always. Showing some visible signs of improvement. Talking about stopping dialysis soon to see how the kidneys are functioning too. Please thank everyone for praying and remind them not to stop. It is working and hopefully Kelly will be returning to us soon. Still a very long road ahead

lipi20 5/26/26 update from Lori Today is day 2 of having the ventilator out all day, and she is doing well with that. Tomorrow she will come off the dialysis machine and then they will determine if she still needs it. If she does, it will be 3 days a week for 4 hours. Today she sat on the side of her bed for 10 minutes with her physical therapist. She still does not stay cognitive for more than a few minutes at a time.

lipi20 5/28/26 update: Kelly had dialysis this morning. And they moved her out of the ICU and into a regular room! She seems tired today, but that’s understandable because she’s had a big day

lipi20 5/31/26 update from Lori: The other day Kelly had another issue with her trach in the middle of the night. The floor she was on was not able to help her so they moved her to a different floor and another room. The ENT came and got her set. No one called me to tell me so when I went the next day she wasn’t in her room. Leaving out many details her so let’s just say Lori was not pleased. Anyway, I went home over the weekend to collect some financial paperwork and returned today.

lipi20 Today she was great. Super alert and understanding my questions. It was fantastic. I try not to get overly excited because usually the next day that doesn’t happen.

lipi20 6/11/26 Update from Lori: Kelly has been moved to long term acute care. The goal is to help her function without medical intervention. If she does well there her next step will be rehabilitation. She is doing well, not much change right now.

lipi20 6/14/26 update from Lori: Kelly seems to be doing well. Went to see her the other day and she seemed much better. No more dialysis. Stood up with help. She can read and write. No verbal speaking, but she can mouth words. Still need to get blood pressure, lungs and heart rate under control. Her dissection is going to be an issue forever as they do not believe surgery is an option.

lipi20 Happy Kelly Update: Kelly took 3 steps today. 👏🏻. If she will try to speak she can come to a local long term care and do rehabilitation. (She won’t try to speak out loud )
