c1900-1920s E.P. Co. Sterling Coin & Compact Combo Dance Purse w/ Wrist Chain Hand Carved (likely) 1920’s or earlier Sterling Silver Coin Purse / Compact Wristlet MARKS: Hallmarked STERLING & what looks like EP with a large C around those letters, and a small O adjacent to the P (ie “EP Co”). Please see photos to ensure you see what we do! It is also monogrammed as shown. We believe that this is a 1920’s sterling silver coin purse. Front is hand chased scrolls/rolls or perhaps some type of snail shell motif. Back side has a smooth finish. Untested, but we’ve had numerous wristlets/clutch/mesh bags in the past & we’ve never had a fake. Can’t say it doesn’t happen, but doubtful. Inside features 2 spring loaded coin holders to hold your change securely in place, as well as a spring loaded Fleur de Lis style Money Clip & a Lift-up Mirror. Some gold wash inside. Mirror in great condition with no chips, cracks. Mild cloudiness. Seems as though hinges, clasp & springs work as they should. Very mild patina, as found. There are some scratches & a few shallow indentations where this probably banged on something over the years (very difficult to see with the floral decor). Also a deeper scratch/mark near one corner.
