Yesteryear Memories of Blue Jays in my Garden...

Four baby blue jay fledglings were in the mock orange bush several years ago - back in the corner of my garden! Their parents would bring them to my garden; where they could be safe with shelter, food & water! I was always so honored! They and many other birds loved my organic, pesticide-free garden! 🌻They would make their nests, leave their fledglings to sleep under the bushes in the back corner & then, they’d come to bathe🌿🌻
Blue jays are notoriously noisy whenever a hawk is near! But, I love the hawks, too! 😘

So sweet. 😊 We have jays in our yard too and every morning they wait for my husband to bring their buffet of seeds and raw peanuts! If he’s late they start to yell! I just love your photos. Great ones of the nest & babies!!!🥰🐦 Happy poshing!👍

So cool! I saw my first ever woodpecker the other day. I’ve heard him for years but never got a glimpse. Super cool. I love the pics!

@checkedskipper so cool. Never had one come to the feeder yet. My ferals prob scare him away!

@cherryblast yes, that would discourage the birds, for sure! My kitty stays in the house or he’s only allowed out if I’m out there with him! 😋😋

@checkedskipper How did you get the bird to be comfortable with you? I dated a man whose youngest daughter had wild animals would come to her and the birds would sit in her hand like you. It`s a gift. Nancy

@checkedskipper Thank you for sharing these pics with all of us. N

@nshelto1 I don’t know if it’s because s/he had been one of those 4 fledglings sleeping, earlier that summer, because my presence didn’t bother them, at that time. One even opened his eye and looked at me taking their pic! It’s also probably my personal energy, because I can get rather close to them in the garden.

@nshelto1 oh, you are welcome! I love the birds and pollinators who come to my suburban “oasis”! 🥰

@nshelto1 😋😋 It’s their “oasis”! It’s my place of hard work in the Texas summer humidity! 🤪🤪but, I do it for them, because there are few places for them to even find water in the summertime! They have a shaded “bathing spot” of about 7 basins for them to bathe in! 🥰🥰

@checkedskipper I never would have guessed Texas. Your yard is lush! Those lucky birds and lucky you. Your yard makes me so happy. I don`t have my home anymore. My cousins are in Texas. Were raised in San Antonio. Military men. N

@nshelto1 you can counter on my actual offer? Do you see where I made it, last night? We can negotiate there a little bit more; unless the other Liker(s) accept it first?

@nshelto1 thank you! I’m glad it makes you happy! Go look at my other posts with the butterflies, or even my own Meet your Posher Listing! Lots of garden photos! My niece lives down near San Antonio and may still teach at the big base down there!

Awww... when I lived in the mountains of Georgia a few years ago, one of my kitties brought in a baby blue jay. I rushed to him and he was fine but what to do? We had a huge empty parrot cage and hand fed him there until he was big enough to fly. He would follow me to my veggie garden and sit in my head and insist I hand feed him! It was awesome. He finally moved on but I fell in love with that little guy. ❤️ Beautiful birds.

@avrilon what a wonderful sharing of your experience! They are amazing and So much fun to watch in their little bathing area! I even was able to stand about 20’ away and take a video of a robin taking a bath, a month or so ago! 😘😘🦋

I just relocated from MI to Dallas...I’m currently building my 5th floor terrace oasis🤩send me some good garden vibes🙏 I’ve had my own butterflies, grasshoppers, crickets and a frog(!) all the way up on my patio garden (and a couple squawky myna birds that freak out the cats!).

OMG, I can't believe you got to hold those beautiful birds! What great photos!
We have a lot of blue jays here, but they don't get that close.
I have held a chicadee in my hand. A friend showed me that if you hold your hand out (patiently) with sunflower seeds, the little birds will land on your hand. It was amazing!

How did you get to hold one? Amazing

@pluswear truth be told... he came to my garden to die. He might have been one of the babies who have nested in my garden as a baby? Not sure, but he was completely tame that day & made his crossing the next day. 💕💕

So, now I have a new parakeet visitor in my garden! A little light blue budgie who has escaped from someone’s cage! 😘 She hogs the feeder & fends off doves & blue jays! 😆😆
