stephens600 @amyheller I haven't. My grandmother is a seamstress but recently had a surgery at 97 years old. She has been feeling better so I'm gonna ask her. It is what I call the binding that has come loose. I'm pretty sure fabric glue would be best to reset the binding. But I will ask her this afternoon as soon as I can speak to her.

amyheller @stephens600 I spoke to my local furrier who said it would cost min of 250 to fix, and likely more. So I think I will pass at this point in time. Thank you for all the communication

stephens600 @amyheller I am not familiar with alot of furs. This is the only one I have bought for myself from a very lovely lady who was local. I decided to let it go and noticed the deterioration when I took it out of my closet. My seamstress is our grandmother. She has altered leather many times but not a vintage fur. Saying all this to ask your opinion. Should I just leave it as is or try a fabric glue on the binding and disclose the before and after. Thanks if you have any knowledge to share.

amyheller @stephens600 my local furrier said it should be sewn not glued. You might want to check around your area to see if you have a furrier who can fix or assess it for you. You could get referrals through dry cleaners that do fur cleaning. Your grandmother may have experience and know as a professional and can guide you, if you fix it, you could ask at least $200 more than you’re currently asking for this fur.

amyheller My furrier likely has higher rates due to our area and the fact that she is the only one with in our greater metro area. Furs are not popular out here.
