Women’s VINTAGE 1940S BEAVER FINE FURS COAT ABRAHAM & STRAUS Measurements in pictures. As You see in the picture one side of the collar stand up. The Coat weighs about 9 pounds and look at the lining. This was extremely well-made but it does have some flaws
This is a vintage 1940s era beaver fur coat. It’s made in typical 40s style with wide squared shoulders, very Joan Crawford like. The jacket is fully lined in black satin fabric.
Label: Abraham v Straus Fine Furs. Abraham & Straus is a venerable Brooklyn department store founded in 1865. It eventually became a holding of Federated Department Stores, and, in 1995, the Abraham & Straus name was dropped in favor of the use of Macy’s.
Condition: It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odors. Beaver is a very robust fur, and if stored properly, should last for many years. It does have one side of the collar stay up, a couple buttons missing and some of the lining (looks like it’s along the seams) tore away from the coat and I would guess that is because of the weight of the coat but I see nothing major all in the flaws I detect that look like they could be easily fixed by someone who is familiar with these kind of coats.
This is a wonderful vintage fur jacket, very glamorous with fabulous 40s style. Rare to find a period fur like this is such good condition.
