Whoop is designed to be worn and to collect data 24/7 – and unlike many smartwatches, wearing one is genuinely comfortable enough for that to be possible. The tracker itself is slim and lightweight, and the wristbands are made from a soft microfilament yarn. It’s also fully waterproof, so you can wear it in the shower and when you swim. It even charges remotely thanks to a wireless battery pack that slides onto the device while it’s still on your wrist. Whoop collects data via its in-built sensors, which is then synced via Bluetooth to an app on your phone. The app interprets the data and gives you a range of actionable insights on your sleep, recovery, strain, and stress. Whoop monitors your respiratory rate, blood oxygen level, resting heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), temperature, current max heart rate, and calories expended in order to calculate the following metrics.
