WWII trench art shell candle sticks/holders, brass? 5 3/8". 40 MM, one pair

I believe these are WWII trench art shell candle sticks/holders, I polished the bottom so I could read the numbers, one says 44 FSC LOT - 1 40 MM and some other letters I can't read, the polished bottom looks brass and they are non-magnetic. The other one says 40 MM - MK and some other letters. They have been used as candle holders, there is some wax on them. They weigh almost 2 pounds. Please ask questions. I do not ship outside the lower 48 states.
