This original WWII Army Air Forces service jacket is a unique incredible preserved piece of military history. Featuring a range of distinctive patches, this jacket reflects the assignments, rank, and role of the soldier who wore it. The label inside confirms manufacture under contract W-669-qm-23025.
Patches and Insignia:
13th Air Force (left shoulder) – Known as the "Jungle Air Force," active in the Pacific Theater.
Pacific Air Forces (right shoulder) – Indicates service in the South West Pacific or Pacific Ocean Areas.
Mechanics Trade Patch (left chest) – Yellow embroidered gear and wing insignia, indicating an Army Air Forces mechanic.
Corporal Rank Chevrons (both sleeves) – Double-chevron signifies the rank of Corporal.
Service Stripes (left cuff) – Four gold bars represent 2 years of overseas service each (totaling 8 years).
Honorable Discharge “Ruptured Duck” Patch – Worn above the right chest pocket to show the veteran was honorably discharged.
