Vtg/Antique Hand Carved Genuine Shell Cameo Brooch

A beautiful genuine shell hand carved cameo brooch. About 2.25" x 1.25". Lightweight. The base is a gold tone repousse, and my acid test shows it to be minimum 10k gold, but less than 14k. Likely plated, not solid. Some wear tonthe metal, and the back looks like a somewhat sloppy later repair. I'm uncertain of the age of this. It's at least vintage, possibly antique. The style of carving points to the Edwardian era but the clasp is newer. My gut says this is an older piece, and the clasp is a replacement. Comes from smoke-free fragrance-free cat-friendly home.
