More about artist Dave Kindley (1950-2011)
Born David James Kindley Sr. to Elmer and Doris Kindley in Richmond, IN on August 13, 1950. His family moved to Southern California when Dave was sixteen. While attending Coachella Valley High School Dave worked as a volunteer firefighter and met his wife Bette. Dave and Bette were married on September 3, 1970 and had three children: David Jr., Malena, and Willis. Dave worked for CalFire as a seasonal firefighter until he started a career in woodworking. In 1976 Dave and Bette moved to Eureka, CA where they have lived for the past 35 years. Shortly after moving to Eureka Dave opened Kindley's Burl where he continued the woodworking business. Dave enjoyed making vases, bowls, and other items out of redwood burl and also having his two sons help him in the business when they were kids.
