Vtg Framed NEEDLEPOINT Child Eating Watermelon Butterfly Birds Oval Mat 9 x 11

Dimensions: approximately 9" wide x 11" long This vintage needlepoint embroidery of a child eating watermelon on a summer day is adorable. A smiling little boy or girl sits on a rock in the grass and flowers eating a large piece of watermelon while a butterfly flits above. Two small birds are also perched on the watermelon where one helps herself to a tiny bite. The details of this embroidery are fantastic, right down to the watermelon seeds. A large green mat with an oval cutout perfectly complements and sets off the artwork. It's a lovely piece that captures those carefree summer days of youth. The frame is made of solid wood--possibly oak--and includes the attached hanger so that this piece is ready to display. Condition: Excellent vintage condition. There are no stains, nicks, or cracks. I love it so much that I'm tempted to keep it for myself! Crosslisted.
