The 52nd Naval Construction Battalion (NCB), also known as Seabees, was a unit in the U.S. Navy during World War II. They were involved in various construction projects across the Pacific theater, including work in the Aleutian Islands, Pearl Harbor, Guam, and Okinawa. The 52nd NCB was formed in May 1942 and served until the end of the war.
Formation and Training: The 52nd NCB was formed at Camp Allen, Virginia, in May 1942.
Early Deployments: In August 1942, a detachment of 200 men from the 52nd NCB was sent to Adak and Amchitka in the Aleutian Islands.
Pacific Operations: After a period of leave, the battalion returned to the Pacific, landing at Pearl Harbor and working on Moanalua Seabee Camp.
Guam and Okinawa: The 52nd NCB then deployed to Guam, where they worked on installations before moving to Okinawa.
End of the War: The battalion was still on Okinawa when Japan surrendered in August 1945.
