This archival sharply tailored 2-piece suit from Westwood’s 90s era, is truly a rarity. Vivienne Westwood was most celebrated for her skirt suits. So when she designed pantsuits it carried a subversive charge—challenging feminine conventions of dress.
Made from a tactile tweed in earthy hues of ochre, camel & flecked white. The blazer (which in itself looks so fierce worn on its own) carries her unmistakable hand: nipped waist that flares into vented sides & back, orb-embossed horn buttons at the closure, cuffs & flap pockets, & a discreet chest pocket. Lined in silk woven w/ her orb monogram. The trousers, cut from the same fabrication, sit high on the waist w/ pleats & slit pockets. It’s a flattering cut worn on its own, but coupled with the blazer, it truly is a powerhouse look, which undoubtedly was Westwood’s intention. - reframing gender norms through the language of tailoring, while looking ridiculously chic.
Size on tag IT 40 (approx US 4).
Measurement estimates available upon request.
In very good vintage condition; small fray in lining professionally mended. Otherwise light wear consistent w/ age.
