Vintage clip-on floral earrings or starburst design,an aurora borealis finish. These are vintage clip-on earrings featuring a floral or starburst design. They are made of clear and pink rhinestones with a central, larger rhinestone that has an aurora borealis finish. Aurora borealis rhinestones have a special metallic coating that makes them shimmer with a rainbow of colors, similar to the Northern Lights. The coating was developed by Swarovski in collaboration with Christian Dior in the 1950s, and it became a popular feature in costume jewelry from the 1950s and '60s.
