Vintage clear cut glass trinket dish fancy ashtray handkerchief edge

This is a darling little cut glass dish. It is in excellent condition. No marks of any kind. I believe it's circu 1940-50's, which leads me to the idea it could have been a sweet little ashtray. I recall it being on my grandmother's side table in the living room. It was later used as a trinket jewelry dish on my aunt's bureau. It is petite at 4" x 4"
