I purchased this dress in the 1980s from a now closed vintage shop called Love Saves the Day in NY's East Village across from Kiev. It fit like a glove and I wore it to a gallery party. I have held on to it because I know that it's special. LSD closed in 2009. I’ve included a web pic—Thanks to photog and writer who stirred fond memories of this iconic shop that is no more.:(
The dress has exquisite black and ivory lace flowers that are on the front and back. I've never seen bi-color lace flowers stitched together like this. So delicate and in great condition. The flowers seem like cotton, the skirt maybe black smooth crepe. It's fully lined, black on the bottom, ivory on the top. The flowers don’t have a backing so maybe they’re Guipure lace, perhaps chemical. They’re not fully attached to the lining so they add some cup size to your bust. The fit is superb with defined nipped seamed waist and pencil skirt in the wiggle style. It's classy with a high neck and deep V back that leads right to the long metal Tabit zipper at spine. You will need someone to zip this up for you. ;) Add red lipstick and Vavavoom!
Measurements:
I was a size 4/S when I wore this. It’s 12” at waist; 16” mid skirt; max 17.5” at end of skirt.
Excellent vintage condition. Tabit zipper works great. Some yellowing of ivory. Needs cleaning
