Vintage basket with leather strap and attached lid

Excellent vintage condition This could be used for mini purposes I’m not sure originally what this was but when you raise the lid, it does not come all the way off. It is attached with the leather strap. I’m not sure if this was for fishing or picnic or binoculars or something of that matter The basket is standing approximately 8 1/2 inches tall Basket is approximately 10 1/2 inches wide at the base and five and three-quarter inches deep at the base
