Vintage/ antique thigh high cotton sock purse opening attached at top

This is a 33 inch long cream colored cotton unused antique sock that has been made into a purse . The purse attached opening has a brushed gold metallic finish that is visible in the last photo. This brushed gold finish is indicative of late 60’s early seventies. I believe the cotton sock itself to be quite a bit older . Possibly antique. Never seen one like it other than small novelty purses from the 90’s and one like this ,but a Christmas stocking design. This was the purse that I finished my purse presentation with , as it always gave everyone a laugh! Was it meant to be a joke ? Or was it useful to some resourceful woman? Certainly a conversation piece !This is in vintage never used condition. No flaws or soiling. Perfectly fabulous and fun!
