The Weekly Reader publication company was active from 1928 until 2012, when it folded into its competitor, Scholastic. Originally publishing educational magazines with their audience as elementary schools, Weekly Reader eventually began publishing classic children's books under the Weekly Reader Book Club campaign, directly targeting children through family subscriptions. The Weekly Reader Book Club reached its height in the 1960s and 1970s. Books published under this division of the Weekly Reader publication company are now collectible.
