Vintage UPCO 141 Dripware Planter Soft Green Made in USA Ceramic MCM Pottery. Maker’s Mark UPCO USA 141 which means that this was made by the Ungemach Pottery Co., of Roseville, Ohio. Ungemach is one of the overlooked pottery companies. Fred Ungemach began the company – at first named South Fork Pottery in 1937. The design aesthetics were the same, Art Deco streamlined and futuristic. Ungemach (1900-1984), had worked for the Nelson McCoy Pottery as a boy and later for Ransbottom Pottery (RRP Co). Great places to learn both the business & design side of making art pottery. The Ungemach line included garden, decorative & floral pieces w distinctive appeal so with MCM & Art Deco design interest, these are becoming “hot” and very collectible. The soft green w frothy white dripping is appealing to collectors. There are 4 cute legs to this planter. The 4 corners are not as smooth as the sides but there are no chips or cracks.
