This is a vintage wooden tobacco jar or humidor. The jar is made of wood and has a lid, which is typical for a tobacco jar or humidor. Would make a great trinket bowl.
It features a decorative image of a woman's face on the side, which suggests it is a vintage or collectible item.
The design and materials are consistent with items from the mid-20th century, a period when such decorative wooden items were common.
I believe this to be hand turned as you can see the small lathe hole in the bottom. The wood is beautiful, probably, walnut or mahogany. I can't say for sure but the grain of the wood is gorgeous. It could be either one but I am not an expert on wood.
There are no chips or cracks and the inside is clean. The lid has a wood cork on the top that is turned into the lid, and does not come out.
The woman looks like she is painted on but it is difficult to tell and then a lacquer of some kind is painted over the entire piece.
I will let you decide. Either way she is beautiful with no flaws.
On the left side just under the handle there is an area where the lacquer dripped. It is hardly noticeable and does not affect the presentation nor the use of the piece.
The entire piece measures 6 inches tall with the lid. It measures 3 1/2 inches tall without the lid and is about 1 1/2 inches deep.
It is hard to date this as there are no makers marks. It will be listed as unbranded.
