Vintage studio pottery bottle, signed “Dutton” and dated “9/62” on the base. Crafted in dark brown stoneware with a glazed interior and neck, the exterior remains unglazed, showcasing a raw, tactile surface. A white abstract motif—reminiscent of a tree limb or branching form—emerges organically from the clay, adding visual depth and folk-art charm.
Measures approximately 8 inches tall and 4½ inches wide at the shoulder. The piece is in very good vintage condition, with a firing crack visible on the underside that does not penetrate the vessel.
While the artist is not definitively identified, the signature and style suggest possible connection to Dan Dutton, a multidisciplinary artist based in Kentucky known for his sculptural ceramics and Appalachian narrative work. Found in Aurora, Missouri, this bottle reflects the rustic elegance and regional artistry of mid-century American studio pottery.
